Job Description

Role Purpose

The Architect will be responsible for planning, designing, and supporting the execution of school and educational infrastructure projects. The role involves developing child-friendly, inclusive, and sustainable spaces that align with pedagogy, safety norms, and government standards. The Architect will provide expertise in design, documentation, budgeting, and project supervision while ensuring innovation, cost-efficiency, and long-term sustainability of educational facilities.

Key Responsibilities

1. School Space Planning & Design

  • Conduct site
  • Prepare conceptual layouts for classrooms, STEM labs, libraries, WASH blocks, play areas, and staff facilities.
  • Incorporate child-friendly, inclusive, and sustainable design principles.
  • Create flexible learning spaces that support activity-based and experiential learning.

2. Drawing & Documentation

  • Develop architectural drawings (plans, elevations, sections, 2D & 3D views).
  • Prepare working drawings for execution (furniture layout, electrical, plumbing, flooring details).
  • Generate as-built drawings after project completion.
  • Support engineers in preparing BOQs with accurate design inputs.

3. School

  • Translate education into spatial planning.
  • Suggest design improvements for natural light, ventilation, accessibility, and comfort.
  • Recommend specialized zones such as reading corners, STEM innovation hubs, and digital spaces.

4. Budgeting & Cost Support

  • Collaborate with budgeting managers to validate BOQ quantities.
  • Provide material specifications (tiles, paint, furniture, waterproofing solutions) aligned with cost efficiency.
  • Recommend value-engineered design alternatives without compromising safety or aesthetics.

5. Civil & Aesthetic Elements

  • Define finishing details (plaster, flooring, paint, waterproofing).
  • Design facades, entrances, and landscape elements for enhanced aesthetics.
  • Integrate child-centric design features like wall graphics, signage, and display areas.

6. Compliance & Standards

  • Ensure adherence to building codes, government regulations, and safety norms.
  • Incorporate barrier-free design features (ramps, inclusive toilets, tactile indicators).
  • Integrate fire safety and evacuation planning into school layouts.

7. Project Execution Support

  • Provide clarifications to site engineers and contractors.
  • Conduct site to ensure execution matches design intent.
  • Revise and adapt designs based on site realities and stakeholder feedback.

8. Sustainability & Innovation

  • Recommend green building practices (rainwater harvesting, daylight optimization, natural ventilation).
  • Suggest eco-friendly materials (recycled products, low-VOC paints, sustainable finishes).
  • Integrate energy-efficient solutions (solar power, LED lighting, insulation systems).

9. Coordination & Communication

  • Budgeting Managers for cost and BOQ alignment.
  • Civil Engineering for execution feasibility.
  • Leadership & Pedagogy Teams to align design with learning outcomes.
  • Prepare presentations, design decks, and renders for approvals by partners, funders, or government bodies.

10. Research & Continuous Improvement

  • Stay updated with global trends in school and child-friendly architecture.
  • Benchmark designs against international standards
  • Document best practices, lessons learned, and innovative ideas to improve school infrastructure.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Timely completion of designs, drawings, and revisions.
  • Accuracy and quality of BOQ inputs and documentation.
  • Compliance with codes, standards, and safety requirements.
  • Stakeholder satisfaction on the job.
  • Number of sustainable and innovative practices

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) – Mandatory.
  • And – Preferred, especially in Educational / Institutional / Sustainable Architecture.
  • Registered COA – Required.
  • Experience: 2–5 years (mid-level) / 5–10 years (senior level) in institutional or school infrastructure design.

Technical Skills

  • AutoCAD – Drafting & detailing.
  • SketchUp / Lumion / Enscape / V-Ray
  • A – Design decks & presentations.
  • MS Office / Excel – Documentation & BOQ coordination.
  • Strong knowledge of NBC, IS Codes, safety, and accessibility standards.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹500,000.00 - ₹2,413,042.88 per year
