Backend Engineer

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

• Design & Development: Architect, design, and implement scalable backend services and APIs that support business logic and application functionality.
• System Optimization: Ensure backend systems are optimized for performance, reliability, and scalability to handle increasing loads.
• Database Management: Work with relational and/or NoSQL databases to design schemas, write efficient queries, and manage large-scale data.
• API Development: Build RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs to enable seamless integration with frontend and external systems.
• Code Quality: Write clean, maintainable, and testable code following best practices and industry standards.
• Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including frontend, DevOps, and QA engineers, to deliver high-quality features and improvements.
• Troubleshooting & Debugging: Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex technical issues in production and staging environments.
• Security & Compliance: Implement secure coding practices, ensuring protection against vulnerabilities and data breaches.
• Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with emerging backend technologies, tools, and best practices, applying them to improve the system and development process.
• Mentorship: Share knowledge with junior engineers and contribute to technical discussions, design reviews, and peer code reviews.
  

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• 4-9 years of proven experience as a Backend Engineer or Software Engineer with a focus on backend development.
• Strong proficiency in backend programming languages such as Java, Go, Python, Node.js, or similar.
• Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and system design principles.
• Experience working with databases (SQL and/or NoSQL) such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Redis.
• Hands-on experience with building and consuming APIs (RESTful or GraphQL).
• Knowledge of microservices architecture, distributed systems, and event-driven design.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerization/orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and version control systems like Git.
• Strong debugging, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  

Preferred Qualifications (Good to Have):

• Exposure to message queues and streaming platforms (Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc.).
• Knowledge of caching strategies and performance tuning.
• Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK stack.
• Prior experience working in fast-paced product-based environments or startups
