About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Backend Engineer / Lead to join our dynamic team at Recro in Mumbai. This role is pivotal in building and scaling core backend systems for our fast-growing product platform. The ideal candidate is a hands-on backend engineer who thrives on owning architecture, developing production-ready systems, and collaborating closely with founders and cross-functional teams including product and frontend teams.In this role, you will be responsible for designing, building, deploying, and maintaining scalable Python-based microservices on cloud infrastructure, primarily AWS. Your work will directly impact the performance, reliability, and scalability of our platform, enabling us to deliver exceptional products to our customers. You will have the opportunity to lead system design discussions, influence technical strategies, and mentor junior engineers, contributing significantly to the company's technological growth.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess between 5 to 11 years of experience in backend engineering, demonstrating strong expertise in Python backend development. You should have a proven track record of working with microservices and distributed systems, along with hands-on experience deploying and operating systems on AWS. A solid understanding of database fundamentals, including Postgres, MySQL, or MongoDB, is essential. Additionally, familiarity with messaging queues such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, Celery, or SQS is highly desirable. Excellent communication skills are necessary to clearly explain system design choices and trade-offs, enabling effective collaboration across teams.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop robust backend services and APIs utilizing Python frameworks such as FastAPI, Django, or Flask.
- Architect and maintain microservices and distributed systems to ensure scalability and resilience.
- Implement asynchronous processing and messaging pipelines to optimize system performance.
- Design, optimize, and maintain databases and data access layers to support high-volume data operations.
- Deploy, monitor, and operate services on AWS cloud infrastructure, ensuring high availability and security.
- Take ownership of the entire system lifecycle from initial design to production deployment and ongoing maintenance.
- Participate in system design discussions, including high-level and low-level design (HLD/LLD).
- Collaborate effectively with frontend, product, and leadership teams to align technical solutions with business objectives.
