Back End Developer

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, deploy, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs.
• Architect backend infrastructure using best practices for performance, security, and scalability (e.g., Kubernetes, AWS, GCP).
• Oversee database design and optimization for relational and non-relational databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
• Lead, mentor, and support junior developers and interns within the backend team.
• Facilitate knowledge sharing and capacity building across the tech team.
• Drive code reviews, documentation, and standardization of backend processes.
• Collaborate closely with the policy, product, and field teams to translate program needs into technical solutions.
• Independently manage timelines, deliverables, and progress reporting through ASANA/Jira.
• Take ownership of critical platform features and actively contribute to new R&D initiatives.
  

Required Skills and Experience:

• 5+ years of backend development experience with strong proficiency in frameworks such as Ruby on Rails, Node.js, or Python (Django/Flask).
• Solid understanding of RESTful API design, microservices architecture, and scalable cloud infrastructure.
• Experience deploying applications on AWS, GCP, and managing containerization using Kubernetes/Docker.
• Strong knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases.
• Proven experience in leading or mentoring development teams.
• Familiarity with big data processing tools and data pipeline frameworks is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and communication skills.
• Comfortable working in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment.
