Job Description

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing, architecting, and scaling the core backend systems that power our global learning platform. You will work closely with the CTO, CEO, and the product team, owning major modules end-to-end while contributing to engineering culture, best practices, and technical decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Architect, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Node.js (or equivalent).
Design efficient data models, optimize database performance, and ensure high system reliability.
Lead end-to-end ownership of major modules—from requirement analysis to production deployment.
Implement robust APIs, microservices, caching, and background job systems.
Ensure system performance, uptime, observability, and security compliance.
Review code, mentor junior engineers, and enforce engineering best practices.
Collaborate with founders, product, and frontend teams to deliver high-impact features quickly.

Desired Qualifications & Skill Set

We’re looking for someone who:

Has 3+ years of hands-on backend development experience, with strong command over Node.js, Typescript, Express/NestJS (or equivalent).
Has solid understanding of web architectures, distributed systems, databases (SQL/NoSQL).
Has worked on scalable production systems with real users.
Possesses strong problem-solving skills, debugging capability, and architectural thinking.
Is extremely proactive, product-driven, and comfortable in fast-paced environments.
Has excellent coding discipline, knowledge of testing frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP/Azure).
Is eager to take ownership, contribute to team culture, and grow with the company.
