We are looking for a talented and experienced AWS RDS DBA Engineer to join our Cloud Engineering team, supporting our operations across the EMEA region. You will be responsible for the end-to-end management of AWS Relational Database Service (RDS) environments, ensuring high availability, security, and performance. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver robust, scalable, and cost-effective database solutions in the AWS cloud.
• Design, deploy, and manage AWS RDS instances (MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle, MariaDB, Aurora) across multiple EMEA environments.
• Monitor and optimize database performance, availability, and cost efficiency using AWS CloudWatch and other tools.
• Implement and maintain robust backup, restore, and disaster recovery strategies for AWS RDS.
• Ensure compliance with security and regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR) for all RDS deployments in the EMEA region.
• Automate routine database administration tasks using AWS Lambda, CloudFormation, or other automation tools.
• Collaborate with application, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to support database architecture and integration.
• Perform database migrations and upgrades with minimal downtime, leveraging AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) where appropriate.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database-related incidents, providing escalation support as needed.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of database architectures, procedures, and best practices.
• Stay current with AWS database innovations and recommend improvements for scalability and resilience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of DBA experience, with a strong focus on AWS RDS.
• Hands-on experience with AWS RDS engines (MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle, MariaDB, Aurora).
• Proficiency in AWS services: EC2, S3, IAM, CloudWatch, CloudFormation, Lambda, and DMS.
• Strong knowledge of database security, encryption, IAM roles, and compliance (GDPR, PCI DSS, etc.).
• Experience with database performance tuning, troubleshooting, and monitoring in AWS.
• Scripting skills (Python, Bash, PowerShell) for automation.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with remote and international teams in EMEA.
• AWS Certification (e.g., AWS Certified Database – Specialty, AWS Solutions Architect).
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (CloudFormation, Terraform).
• Familiarity with DevOps pipelines (CodePipeline, Jenkins, etc.).
• Experience supporting high-availability and multi-region RDS architectures.
• Knowledge of NoSQL AWS offerings (DynamoDB, etc.) is a plus.
