Location: Remote (India)

Position Type: Contracted

Rate: $10-$15

Applicants must reside in India and be authorized to work as independent contractors with overlapping part time working hours of Pacific Standard Time (PST).


We are seeking a highly organized and technically skilled Assistant Systems Architect to support the design, documentation, and implementation of scalable systems for our web-based educational games and interactive applications. This role will work closely with the Systems Architect and core development team to translate design goals into robust technical frameworks, ensuring efficiency, performance, and maintainability across all builds.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Systems Architect to design, plan, and document system architecture, including gameplay frameworks, data flows, backend integrations, and UI logic.
  • Assist in defining technical requirements and system specifications to support scalability, cross-platform delivery, and web-based deployment.
  • Create and maintain system diagrams, flowcharts, and technical documentation outlining architecture decisions and dependencies.
  • Support prototype development by integrating modular systems and testing interactions between core components.
  • Identify and resolve architectural issues through testing, debugging, and iterative improvements.
  • Collaborate with designers, developers, and artists to ensure the system structure aligns with creative and functional goals.
  • Contribute to performance optimization by analyzing system bottlenecks and proposing efficient solutions.
  • Track and version system updates through structured documentation and version control tools.


Qualifications

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating systems design, technical architecture, or similar work on web-based applications or Unity projects.
  • Familiarity with Unity and web application frameworks (JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML5/CSS, WebGL).
  • Understanding of system design and architecture principles.
  • Experience with version control tools (e.g., GitHub, GitLab) and documentation platforms (e.g., JIRA/Confluence, Notion).
  • Basic scripting or programming skills (C#, JavaScript, or equivalent).
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, evolving environment with shifting priorities
  • Excellent written communication and collaboration skills in a remote setting
  • Attention to detail with a flexible, problem-solving mindset


Preferred Skills

  • Experience with data architecture, backend integrations, or multiplayer systems.
  • Familiarity with web deployment pipelines and optimization for browser-based games.
  • Comfortable picking up new technologies and implementing foreign API into Unity or HTML5 projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Game Development, or equivalent professional experience (preferred).

 

Physical Requirements

This is a remote, computer-based role. The position requires prolonged periods of sitting and working at a desk, as well as regular use of a computer, mouse, and keyboard.


Additional Information

  • This is a contracted position. All work is project based and does not constitute an offer of employment
  • Contractors are responsible for providing their own computer, internet access, and working environment. Access to required software will be provided by Our English Group, LLC
  • Compensation and scope of work will be outlined in a separate contractor agreement
  • Compensation will be processed through Rippling, with currency and payment preferences set up based on contractor onboarding details
  • Contractors are responsible for complying with any applicable tax or invoicing requirements
  • Pay is by the hour based on hours worked.
  • All work produced is the property of Our English Group, LLC and may not be used or distributed without written permission
  • Selected applicants may be asked to sign a non-disclosure agreement and/or independent contractor agreement prior to starting work
  • Contractors may be required to complete basic data security training and adhere to Our English Group, LLC confidentiality and content protection standards
