Job Description

Assistant Manager – Quality

Department: Quality Assurance & Quality Control (QA/QC)

Job Purpose

To support effective implementation of quality systems and ensure compliance with project specifications, codes, and standards during fabrication and inspection activities, ensuring consistent quality execution at shop-floor and project levels.

Key Responsibilities

1. Quality Execution & Control

  • Implement approved Quality Plans, ITPs, and QAPs for assigned projects.
  • Monitor fabrication activities to ensure compliance with drawings, procedures, and customer specifications.
  • Coordinate daily quality activities with production and engineering teams.

2. Inspection & Testing

  • Carry out or supervise incoming, in-process, and final inspections.
  • Ensure proper execution of NDT activities (RT, UT, PT, MT) and dimensional inspections.
  • Verify calibration status of measuring and testing instruments.

3. Welding & Fabrication Control

  • Ensure compliance with approved WPS, PQR, and welder qualifications.
  • Monitor welding consumables, joint fit-up, welding parameters, and PWHT activities.
  • Support weld traceability and heat number control.

4. Documentation & Records

  • Prepare and maintain inspection reports, checklists, and daily quality logs.
  • Assist in preparation of Manufacturing Record Book (MRB) / Quality Dossier.
  • Maintain proper document control and traceability records.

5. Non-Conformance Handling

  • Identify quality issues and raise NCRs for deviations.
  • Assist in root cause analysis and CAPA implementation.
  • Follow up for timely closure of NCRs.

6. Customer & TPI Coordination

  • Support customer and third-party inspections during fabrication and testing stages.
  • Coordinate inspection schedules and readiness with production teams.

7. Vendor & Subcontractor Quality

  • Support inspection and quality monitoring of vendor-supplied materials and subcontracted jobs.
  • Report vendor quality issues to senior quality management.

8. Team Support & Discipline

  • Guide QC inspectors and technicians in day-to-day inspection activities.
  • Promote quality awareness and safety practices on the shop floor.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Sound knowledge of fabrication processes, welding, inspection, and NDT
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and standards
  • Strong documentation and coordination skills
  • Proactive approach and attention to detail

Qualifications

  • BE / B. Tech / Diploma in Mechanical / Production / Metallurgy
  • Certification in NDT / Welding / ISO awareness – preferred

Experience

  • 7–10 years of experience in product fabrication / heavy engineering / EPC industry
  • Exposure to pressure vessels, piping, and structural fabrication

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹700,000.00 - ₹800,000.00 per year
