Job Summary

The IP Network Routing & Switching Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting enterprise-level LAN/WAN infrastructure. This role ensures optimal network performance, security, and scalability by managing routers, switches, and associated protocols.

Key Responsibilities

Network Design & ImplementationDesign and deploy routing and switching infrastructure based on business needsConfigure and install routers, switches, firewalls, and other networking devices.Collaborate with network architects and IT teams to develop scalable solutions.Monitoring & TroubleshootingMonitor network performance and proactively resolve issues related to routing and switching.Diagnose and troubleshoot routing errors, switch malfunctions, and connectivity issues.Provide remote support during installations and outages.Protocol & Configuration ManagementOptimize routing protocols such as OSPF, BGP, and EIGRP.Manage Layer 2 and Layer 3 configurations including VLANs, STP, and IP addressing.Administer firewall and access control settings in line with security policiesSecurity & ComplianceImplement security measures in routing and switching protocols to safeguard network integrity.Conduct audits and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulationsDocumentation & ReportingMaintain detailed documentation of network configurations and troubleshooting proceduresReport network operational status and performance metrics to stakeholdersProject & Vendor CoordinationPlan and execute network expansion projects, including hardware upgrades.Coordinate with vendors for procurement and support of networking equipment.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT.Proven experience in enterprise networking environments.Strong knowledge of Cisco technologies (Catalyst, Nexus), routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP), and switching technologies.Hands-on experience with network configuration and troubleshooting.Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent are highly preferredExcellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.

Preferred Experience

Experience with Cisco routers ASR 9XX, ASR 9010, ASR 9912, SD-WAN, Alcatel Lucent PSS 32, PSS 4, configuration & troubleshooting routersExperience working with multiple clients.
