Job Description

To oversee the design and development of large fabricated structures and assemblies involving sheet metal, structural components, and modular systems. Responsible for ensuring designs meet functional requirements, compliance standards, manufacturability, and production efficiency.

Key Responsibilities1. Design & Engineering

  • Prepare 3D models, layouts, assembly drawings, and detailed fabrication drawings.
  • Develop designs for structural frames, sheet metal assemblies, interior modules, exterior panels, and mounting systems.
  • Conduct structural and mechanical calculations such as load distribution, joint strength, and vibration considerations.
  • Ensure designs meet safety norms, dimensional accuracy, and regulatory requirements relevant to vehicle/structure manufacturing.
  • Optimize designs for weight reduction, material efficiency, and ease of production.

2. Project Coordination

  • Manage design deliverables from concept to final release.
  • Coordinate with production, quality, R&D, sourcing, and testing teams.
  • Participate in design reviews and finalize solution-based design improvements.

3. Documentation & Standards

  • Prepare BOMs, material lists, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Ensure adherence to GD&T, welding standards, and industry design guidelines.
  • Maintain design revisions, version control, and proper documentation practices.

4. Manufacturing Support

  • Provide technical support to fabrication, assembly, and integration departments.
  • Resolve design-related issues on the shop floor and ensure smooth manufacturing flow.
  • Support prototype development, fitment checks, and trial runs.

5. Quality & Compliance

  • Validate designs through analysis, simulation, or physical testing as required.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, structural integrity norms, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Implement engineering change management and corrective/preventive actions.

6. Continuous Improvement

  • Contribute to standardization of components, modules, and design practices.
  • Work on cost reduction initiatives and design simplification.
  • Support development of new concepts, styling adaptations, and modular architecture.

Skills & Competencies

  • Proficiency in CAD tools (SolidWorks, Creo, AutoCAD, Inventor, CATIA—customizable).
  • Strong understanding of sheet metal design, welding, and structural fabrication.
  • Knowledge of materials such as mild steel, high-strength steel, aluminum, and composites.
  • Good understanding of GD&T, tolerance stack-ups, and fastening/joint techniques.
  • Ability to evaluate manufacturability and assembly feasibility.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Exposure to analysis tools (FEA) is an advantage.

Qualifications & Experience

  • B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 5–10 years of experience in design involving large fabricated structures, sheet metal assemblies, or modular systems.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹50,000.00 - ₹60,000.00 per month
