The opportunity:
As the Assistant Manager, Corporate Taxation, you will be responsible for managing direct tax compliance, advisory, and strategic matters for Hitachi Energy India Limited, the Indian subsidiary of a multinational enterprise with an annual turnover of around Rs. 6,500 crores. The entity is listed in BSE and NSE. Reporting to the Head of Taxation (India), you will play a vital role in ensuring regulatory compliance, effective tax planning, transfer pricing compliance and supporting strategic business decisions.
How you’ll make an impact:
Oversee and execute all direct tax compliances, including income tax, TDS, transfer pricing and other applicable regulations. Quarterly tax accounting and reporting to the Group. Prepare, review, and file all direct tax returns within statutory deadlines. Ensure accuracy and timeliness of tax payments and statutory filings. Reasonable drafting skills and ability to review agreements from tax and regulatory perspective.
Handle tax audits, assessments, and inquiries from tax authorities. Prepare documentation and coordinate with statutory auditors and tax consultants.
Provide necessary support during internal and external audits by sharing the relevant schedules and ensure timely completion of such audits.
Advise on tax-efficient structuring for transactions and business initiatives. Monitor and interpret changes in tax laws/regulations; assess the impact on business. Support transfer pricing analysis, benchmarking studies, and compliance documentation.
Identify and mitigate tax-related risks and exposures. Ensure robust documentation and recordkeeping of all tax-related matters. Support in the development and implementation of tax policies and SOX/internal controls as required.
Liaise with internal stakeholders (Finance, Legal, Operations) and external consultants/advisors (including Big 4 firms) for effective tax management. Deliver tax updates, briefings, and guidance to management.
Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your background:
Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification is mandatory. A Diploma / Certification in international taxation is desirable.
5 to 10 years of relevant post-qualification experience in corporate taxation.
Prior experience in a multinational company or large corporate setting, Big 4 experience is highly desirable.
Deep knowledge of Indian corporate tax laws and international taxation principles.
Working knowledge of GST regulation & Strong understanding of transfer pricing regulations and compliance.
Experience with ERP/accounting systems (preferable SAP) and tax compliance / tax accounting software (preferably Longview).
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. The candidate should be proficient in MS-PowerPoint and Excel.
High attention to detail, process orientation, and ability to work independently.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines. Strong stakeholder management and team collaboration skills.
Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required.
