Job Description

Role Title: Asst. Manager Civil (Contracts) – T&D, Railways

Purpose of the Role

To handle Civil Contracts and Sub-contracts in Transmission & Distribution (T&D) and Railways projects, ensuring accurate estimation, cost control, and effective vendor management.

Preferred Candidate Profile

  • Age:

    Minimum 25; desirable 25–28 years.
  • Qualification:

    Minimum B.Tech (Civil)
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years; desirable 6–8 years.

  • Type of Experience:

    Quantity Surveying & Estimation.

  • Internal Departments:

    Engineering & Designs, Finance & Accounts, PRM, SCM
  • External Agencies:

    Vendors, Auditors, Government Bodies, Consultants
  • Reporting To:

    Manager – Business Development

Responsibilities

  • Interpret civil drawings with respect to technical specifications in tender agreements.
  • Prepare detailed measurement take-offs and quantity estimates for cost planning.
  • Conduct site visits to assess conditions, collect material cost data, and negotiate pricing.
  • List major BOQ items, issue enquiries, and compile quotations for procurement planning.
  • Develop cost estimates with detailed rate analysis (materials, labor, overheads).
  • Cross-verify tendered vs. executed quantities and costs to highlight deviations.
  • Identify and evaluate subcontractors/vendors for prequalification.
  • Issue RFQs, prepare comparative summaries (CSQ), and negotiate rates.
  • Finalize rate contracts and prepare scope of work matrices for LOI/LOA issuance.
  • Maintain vendor directory with credentials and performance data.
  • Verify joint measurements and validate vendor invoices.
  • Reconcile tender quantities, execution, vendor billing, and client billing.
  • Utilize SAP for WBS creation, PRs, and procurement integration.
  • Ensure compliance with tender documents, contract conditions, and commercial terms.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Apply new tools, technologies, and estimation software effectively.
  • Communicate professionally with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
  • Manage documentation, file systems, and administrative procedures for contracts.
