Position Overview

The Area Sales Manager (ASM) – Surgical Sutures is responsible for driving sales growth, building strong customer relationships, and ensuring market penetration of surgical sutures and related products within the assigned territory. The role involves team leadership, strategic planning, and direct engagement with surgeons, hospitals, distributors, and medical colleges.

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Business Development

  • Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets for surgical sutures.
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities in hospitals, nursing homes, and corporate healthcare chains.
  • Expand market share through product promotion and strategic customer engagement.

Customer Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with surgeons, gynecologists, orthopedic and other healthcare professionals.
  • Organize product demonstrations, CME programs, and OT participation for awareness and adoption.
  • Resolve customer queries and ensure post-sales support.

Team Leadership

  • Guide and motivate Medical Executives/field force to achieve sales objectives.
  • Monitor team performance, provide training, and develop sales skills.
  • Ensure disciplined reporting and adherence to company policies.

Dealer & Distribution Management

  • Manage and strengthen relationships with distributors and stockiest.
  • Ensure availability of products and timely order fulfillment.
  • Monitor dealer performance and resolve payment/discount-related issues.

Market Intelligence

  • Track competitor activities, pricing, and market trends.
  • Provide feedback to the management for strategic decisions.
  • Suggest new products or product improvements based on market needs.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of surgical sutures, absorbable/non-absorbable materials, and surgical applications.
  • Proven track record in medical device or pharma sales.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and build a high-performing sales team.
  • Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving ability.

Qualifications

  • Graduate in Life Sciences, Pharmacy or Business Management.
  • Minimum 3 – 5 years’ experience in medical devices/pharma sales, with at least 2–3 years in a managerial role.
  • Experience in the sutures/medical devices/surgical products industry preferred.

Job Type: Permanent

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹45,000.00 per month (Applicable with Negotiable Salary)
