Analytics Engineer

What is the opportunity?

This role is at the intersection of banking and analytics. It requires diving deep into the banking domain to understand and define the metrics, and into the technical domain to implement and present the metrics through business intelligence tools.

We're building a next-generation analytics product to help banks maximize the financial wellness of their clients. The product is ambitious - that’s why we’re looking for a team member who is laterally skilled and comfortable with ambiguity. Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Analytics as part of the Zafin Product Team, you are a data-visualization subject matter expert who can define and implement the insights to be embedded in the product using data visualization tools (DataViz) and applying analytics expertise to make an impact. Location – Chennai or Trivandrum India

What will you do?

• Collaborate with Business SMEs to identify and define the relevant metrics for financial services (e.g., product, pricing, relationship).
• Develop complex data models to integrate and aggregate data.
• Design and implement data visualization and reports based on an understanding of user needs and the data available.
• Work closely with the Data Engineering team to automate the calculation of metrics.
• Coach and mentor Data Analysts on data visualization best practices.

What do I need to succeed?

Must have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
• The ability to understand complex business objectives and decompose them into metrics that can be calculated and reported upon.
• The ability to collaborate with Business SMEs to understand the business context, define the reporting requirements and effectively communicate new ideas.
• Knowledge of writing efficient and readable SQL scripts to compute the metrics for reports and dashboards.
• Strong understanding of data modelling techniques to design well structured tables and relationships.
• Software Engineering mind-set: Understanding of applying software engineering discipline to analytics code (i.e., applying version control and unit testing practices to SQL)
• Proficient in the use of modern BI-tools.
• Experience with Dataviz: Designing clean, uncluttered visualizations to present actionable insights
• Proficiency in Python for data analysis.
• Strong, clear, and concise written and verbal communication skills .
• Excellent interpersonal skills and can foster team collaboration to achieve positive outcomes.
• Aptitude to solve problems by thinking outside of the box with the ability to conceptualize and articulate new approaches and solutions to all levels of the organization.
• Detail oriented with a strong ability to prioritize conflicting deadlines.
• Proactive and has a strong desire to learn.
