Job Description: Chief Accountant – Food Industry

Position Overview

We are looking for a Chief Accountant with strong expertise in ledger management, Tally Prime, GST compliance, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will oversee all day-to-day accounting operations, ensure accurate financial records, coordinate with banks, and support management in maintaining the company’s financial health through timely reports and reconciliations.

Key Responsibilities

· Manage day-to-day accounting activities including entries, journals, ledgers, payments, receipts, and bank transactions.

· Maintain accurate financial records in Tally Prime and ensure timely posting of all transactions.

· Prepare and maintain records of current assets, liabilities, turnover, and overall financial performance.

· Handle salary disbursement and assist HR with payroll processing and related deductions.

· Coordinate with banks for reconciliation, payment updates, and resolving banking issues.

· Monitor invoicing, customer payments, vendor settlements, and ensure accuracy in financial documentation.

· Oversee GST portal updates, return filings, and ensure timely GST payment compliance.

· Prepare periodic financial statements, balance sheets, and cash flow summaries for management review.

· Support annual audits by providing necessary documents and clarifications.

· Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company financial policies.

Required Skills and Qualifications

· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, or Finance.

· Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in the food manufacturing or FMCG industry.

· Proficient in Tally Prime, MS Excel, and basic financial reporting tools.

· Strong knowledge of GST regulations, TDS, and bank reconciliation.

· Ability to analyze data, maintain accuracy, and meet reporting deadlines.

· Good communication and coordination skills for inter-departmental collaboration.

· Hands-on approach to resolving transactional and system-related discrepancies.

· Ability to lead a small accounts team and supervise junior accountants.

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
