Windows Server Certification Engineer

Job Summary:

We are looking for windows Server Certification Engineer responsible for validating, certifying, and ensuring the compatibility, performance, and security of hardware, software, and system configurations running on Microsoft Windows Server platforms. This role involves executing detailed test plans, troubleshooting complex system issues, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure that products meet Microsoft certification standards such as Windows Server Logo Program, WHQL, and related compliance requirements.

1. Windows Server Installation & Validation

• Install, configure, and test Windows Server (2012R2, 2016, 2019, 2022 on enterprise hardware.
  
• Validate hardware compatibility including CPU, memory, storage, RAID controller, NIC, GPU, chipset.
  
• Perform driver validation for NIC, RAID, Chipset, HBA, GPU.
  
• Validate BIOS/UEFI settings (Secure Boot, TPM, Virtualization).
  

2. Windows OS Certification (HCL)

· Perform certification using Microsoft Windows Hardware Lab Kit (HLK) / HCK.

· Execute Microsoft-mandated test suites for:

ü System basic tests

ü Device-specific tests (network, storage, GPU, USB, PCIe, etc.)

ü Reliability & stress tests

ü Create and submit HLK packages for inclusion in the Windows Server Catalog.

ü Coordinate with Microsoft for certification approval and test case clarifications.

3. Testing & Quality Assurance

· Perform functional and stability tests on:

ü Boot flow, secure boot

ü Storage (RAID, NVMe, SATA, SAS)

ü Network (Ethernet, bonding/teaming, VLAN)

· Conduct performance tests including:

ü Disk benchmarking using Iometer, Crystal Disk Mark, fio (Windows)

ü Network tests using iperf3

Validate Windows features:

· Hyper-V

· BitLocker

· NIC teaming

· Failover Clustering (optional)

4. Troubleshooting & Debugging

· Analyze installation issues, driver failures, BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) errors.

· Troubleshoot Windows boot issues, device driver conflicts, firmware mismatches.

· Review and analyze logs:

ü Event Viewer

ü Device Manager

ü HLK logs

ü Hardware logs (iDRAC, iLO, IPMI)

5. Documentation & Reporting

· Build complete certification documentation packages.

· Maintain Windows OS compatibility matrix for hardware platforms.

· Prepare detailed test reports, HLK logs summary, certification readiness documentation.

· Create SOPs for Windows Server certification processes and test execution.

Skills & Competencies Required

Technical Skills

· Strong expertise in Windows Server OS (2016/2019/2022) installation & configuration.

· Hands-on experience with HLK/HCK testing for Windows Server certification.

Deep understanding of:

· Windows boot process (UEFI/Legacy)

· Storage subsystems (RAID, SAS, SATA, NVMe)

· Network cards, drivers, teaming

· BIOS/UEFI configuration

· Familiarity with server hardware: x86_64, PCIe, TPM, secure boot, virtualization.

· Working knowledge of PowerShell scripting for automation.

Soft Skills

· Excellent documentation and reporting ability.

· Strong coordination skills for interfacing with Microsoft and hardware engineering teams.

· Attention to detail with strong debugging and diagnostic capabilities.

Educational Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in computer science / IT / Electronics / Engineering.

Preferred Certifications

· Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate

· MCSA/MCSE (Legacy)

· CompTIA Server+ (optional)
