The Design System Developer is responsible for the overall performance of the Design System through applying principles of software engineering to the design, development, maintenance, testing, and evaluation of the Design System. The Design System Developer ensures timely delivery of high-quality components within the release timelines and guidelines.

About the Role

The Design System Developer is tasked with ensuring the effective performance and delivery of the Design System.

Responsibilities

• Develop complex code based on functional specifications across teams and programs, complete logic, and algorithm design in alignment with established standards.
• Maintain and improve codebase data design and best practices including (but not limited to) performance, security, reliability, deliverability, and quality attributes.
• Understand and contribute to the architecture of the Design System; create initial implementation standards and guidelines for components that allow teams or programs to begin implementing them based on the technical specifications.
• Perform complex peer code review and analysis; provide insight on broader impact of software changes.
• Operate as an innovative thought leader and trusted advisor across teams and programs; contribute significantly to the overall growth and quality of the department through knowledge sharing, influence of architectural design, and coaching on current best practices and market trends.
• Identify and articulate the business value and broader impact of software changes to internal and external stakeholders; contribute to the prioritization.
• Design, contribute to, and lead the implementation of delivery pipeline including test automation, security, and performance.
• Create development standards to ensure compliance with product and industry practices and regulations.
• Ability to interview for requirements, plan and deliver independently.
• Ability to mentor entry-level and mid-level teammates, review PRs and advise accordingly.
• Comfortable discussing and documenting design options and decisions within their team and with software architects.

Qualifications

• Min 7+ yrs of experience.
• A passion for systems thinking, reuse, and extensibility. Experience working on an enterprise-grade Design System.

Required Skills

• Proficient in Angular and Rx JS + (the new modern Angular features), and their best practices.
• Skilled in Javascript fundamentals.
• Skilled in Typescript.
• Working knowledge of HTML and CSS.
• Familiarity with SCSS.
• Deep knowledge of Design Patterns.
• Deep knowledge of Clean Coding principles.
• Familiarity with GIT.
• Experienced in writing unit tests.
• Familiarity with SOLID principles.
• Experienced in writing integration or acceptance tests.
• Documentation skills.

Preferred Skills

• Basic familiarity with Node.js.
• Basic familiarity with Nx ecosystem.
• Basic familiarity with Github Actions and Workflows.
• Familiarity with Web Accessibility.
