Virtual Training & Resource Development on Impact Storytelling and Writing Skills for Fairtrade NAPP Youth


1. Background


Fairtrade Network of Asia and Pacific Producers (Fairtrade NAPP) is committed to empowering young leaders across producer organizations by equipping them with knowledge and tools to communicate their impact through compelling stories effectively. As part of this effort, Fairtrade NAPP seeks to engage an expert organisation to conduct a 4-hour virtual training session on developing impact stories, including writing skills, storytelling processes, methodologies, and best practices, tailored to Fairtrade values.In addition, the selected organisation will be responsible for developing a comprehensive self-paced learning module, including writing guidelines, case studies, templates, and instructional videos on impact storytelling and visual documentation (photo/video), specifically aligned with the Fairtrade context.


2. Objectives of the Assignment

  • To build the capacity of Fairtrade youth members to develop powerful, data- backed, human-centered impact stories.
  • To improve writing and communication skills needed to convey impact effectively and authentically.
  • To provide practical tools and examples to structure and narrate impact stories in a Fairtrade-aligned context.
  • To produce educational content for self-paced learning on story writing, ethical photography, and video documentation.



3. Scope of Work

  •  The selected organisation will be responsible for: Training Delivery
  • Conduct a 4-hour virtual training session (can be split into two 2-hour sessions) for selected Fairtrade youth from across the region, covering:
  • Understanding Impact Storytelling
  • Why storytelling matters in the development and Fairtrade context
  • Story types (beneficiary-led, community, project-based, etc.)
  • Story Structure & Process
  • Key elements: setting, characters, problem, intervention, change, and call to action
  • Use of data and emotional appeal
  • Flow and coherence of story narratives
  • Writing Skills for Impact
  • Basics of good writing: clarity, tone, grammar, and flow
  • Writing for audiences: donors, consumers, and communities
  • From idea to written narrative: planning, drafting, editing
  • Visual Storytelling
  • Basics of ethical photo and video documentation
  • Framing, lighting, storytelling through visuals
  • Consent and representation guidelines
  • Fairtrade Context
  • Embedding Fairtrade values and themes (youth, gender, environment, governance, etc.)
  • Aligning stories with impact indicators and Fairtrade Premium interventions

 

B. Development of Self-Paced Learning Modules Create a comprehensive digital toolkit that includes:

  • Step-by-Step Guide to Developing and Writing Impact Stories
  • Writing templates and prompts
  • Ethical storytelling checklists
  • Photo and video documentation guidelines
  • 2 Short Educational Videos (2–5 minutes each):
  • How to write an effective impact story- Ethical storytelling and documentation
  • Basics of mobile photography and video storytelling

5.Eligibility Criteria

The applicant organisation must:

  • Have

    at least 5 years

    of experience in development communication, storytelling, capacity building, or journalism.
  • Demonstrate expertise in

    impact writing and storytelling training

    for youth, grassroots organizations, or development sectors.
  • Have experience in producing

    educational content

    including toolkits and video modules.
  • Be familiar with ethical practices in storytelling, particularly for

    nonprofit and social impact sectors

    .
  • Preferably have experience working with

    Fairtrade, ethical trade, or sustainability-focused initiatives

    .


6.Proposal Submission Requirements

Interested organisations must submit the following:

  • Technical Proposal

  • Detailed budget (inclusive of taxes and other costs)
  • Previous Work

  • Samples of similar past work (reports, videos, toolkits)
  • References from previous clients


  • Minimum 02 sample work of educational videos and toolkits developed before.


7.Evaluation Criteria

8.Timeline

  • Deadline to Submit Proposal:

  • Selection & Contracting:

    Within 7 days after deadline
  • Training & Deliverables Completion:

    Within 5 weeks of contract signing


9.Budget : €1500


Training design & facilitation, Follow-up & reporting: €400

  • Preparation and delivery of 4-hour virtual session, including materials and coordination
  • Follow-up & reporting: Participant feedback summary, session documentation


10.Development of Learning Materials: €1100


Self-paced learning toolkit (PDF guidebook, templates, writing guidelines, etc.): Content creation, design, and formatting. Educational video production: 2–3 short videos (script, filming, voiceover, editing, subtitles)

Photo & visual documentation guidelines: Ethical photography and mobile storytelling guide
