US Trade Lane Manager

Key Responsibilities:

Trade Lane Development & Management:

  • Optimize existing trade lanes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and increase volume.
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities across key US trade routes.
  • Collaborate with global and regional teams to expand volumes and onboard new business.

Market Analysis & Strategy:

  • Research market trends, competitor activities, and regulatory updates impacting US trade lanes.
  • Develop strategies to boost profitability and improve service offerings.
  • Work with internal leadership to negotiate competitive ocean rates to the Americas.

Operational Excellence:

  • Oversee trade lane operations to ensure timely, cost-effective, and high-quality service.
  • Coordinate with operations teams to optimize shipment scheduling, routing, and capacity utilization.
  • Ensure compliance with all trade, customs, and regulatory requirements.

Customer & Stakeholder Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, carriers, and logistics partners.
  • Serve as the primary contact for trade lane performance, service issues, and escalations.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure customer satisfaction and service improvement.

Financial & Performance Reporting:

  • Work with finance teams to manage budgets, forecasts, and financial KPIs.
  • Report trade lane performance metrics including volume growth and cost efficiency.
  • Drive process improvements to enhance service speed and reduce operational costs.

Technology & Process Integration:

  • Utilize digital tools for cargo tracking, visibility, and performance monitoring.
  • Collaborate with IT and operations teams to align on process improvements and automation.

Regulatory & Risk Management:

  • Ensure compliance with US import/export regulations and customs laws.
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to capacity, disruptions, and geopolitical factors.

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of US logistics, customs regulations, and freight forwarding processes.
  • Expertise in trade lane and port operations, especially within the US market.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Proficiency in route planning, shipment visibility tools, and logistics software (TMS, WMS, ERP).
  • Leadership and team management skills.

Educational Background:

  • Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, International Business, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree or professional certifications in logistics will be an added advantage.
