About Suvita
Suvita is an impact-driven, evidence-based nonprofit focused on increasing uptake of routine childhood vaccinations in India. Over 4 million children born every year still miss their basic vaccinations in India, leading to far too many vaccine-preventable deaths. We run two rigorously tested, complementary programs:
- Immunisation ambassadors: We identify and train local opinion leaders to volunteer as vaccination advocates to share reminders with families in their communities.
- SMS reminders: We send personalised SMS messages to caregivers to prompt timely attendance at government clinics.
Since our founding in 2019:
- One in ten children born in India benefits from our SMS vaccination reminders.
- We’ve reached over 4 million families and enabled an estimated 84,000 children to become fully vaccinated.
- We partner with government health departments in Maharashtra and Bihar
- GiveWell estimates that our program is highly cost-effective at $1-2 per child reached.
- We partner with J-PAL to run an RCT on boosting immunisation demand
- We have been incubated and funded by sector leaders like The/Nudge Foundation, Ambitious Impact (formerly Charity Entrepreneurship), Mulago Foundation, GiveWell, D-Prize, Founders Pledge and Schmidt Futures.

We are a tech-enabled, data-driven team. Our infrastructure includes SurveyCTO, Telerivet, Infobip, Truecaller, Exotel, AWS, PostgreSQL, BigQuery, Google Workspace, Looker Studio, and more. We've reached over 40 lakh families and are growing rapidly with support from The/Nudge Foundation, Charity Entrepreneurship, Mulago Foundation, and GiveWell.
About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to use your tech skills for a meaningful cause while working with advanced technology in a fast-paced, startup-like environment. You will increase the impact of our programmes by: improving the “product”, making our work more scalable, or finding efficiencies to reduce costs and work more effectively.
Key Responsibilities for this role:
- Design REST APIs, services, ETL/ELT jobs, and integrations that process high volumes of data reliably and support program operations
- Build CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, scheduled jobs, and internal tools that eliminate manual work and reduce errors
- Set up servers, databases, containers, and deployment processes; implement monitoring, alerting, and incident response to keep systems running smoothly
- Design and maintain cloud infrastructure on AWS, including EC2, S3, Lambda, and RDS services.
- Implement security controls (access management, data protection, compliance); conduct code reviews and set engineering standards for the team
- Design system architectures, evaluate new technologies, and translate program needs into technical solutions with clear trade-offs and implementation plans
- Work with the team on deployments and problem-solving; document systems, processes, and decisions to build shared technical understanding
- Maintain clear documentation and follow best practices in development, version control, and cloud architecture.

We’re looking for someone who loves tech and coding and is passionate about using technology to make a difference. Someone who is eager to contribute to Suvita’s mission and impact, and is ready to get their hands dirty and do what it takes to take a task from start to finish.
Must
- Deep commitment to Suvita’s mission and values; motivated by impact and practical solutions.
- 6+ years of professional experience in back-end systems and data infrastructure.
- Expertise in at least one back-end programming language (Python preferred).
- Advanced knowledge of relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL); able to design complex data models and optimize queries.
- Hands-on experience with major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) for managing servers, databases, and storage.
- Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker preferred)
- Familiarity with monitoring tools (CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, VictoriaMetrics, Dozzle, Sentry)
- Quick learner who adopts and implements new technologies (e.g., AI/ML, emerging cloud services) to improve programs and efficiency.
- High agency and startup mindset; takes full ownership of projects, solves problems independently, and delivers results without close supervision.
- Strong communicator, able to explain technical concepts, trade-offs, and solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Consistently acts in Suvita’s best interest with strong ethical judgement regarding data and resources.
- Fluent in both English and Hindi for effective collaboration.
Good
- Experience with data visualization tools like Superset, Looker Studio, Redash, Power BI etc
- Exposure to AI/ML applications or tools.
- Familiarity with no-code platforms (e.g., Google AppSheet).
- Experience working with chatbots, particularly WhatsApp chatbots.
- Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for building user-friendly interfaces.

Application Process

- Attend a technical interview: 12th January – 30th January 2026.
- Attend final in-person meeting, offer discussion, and submit references: 2nd February – 13th February 2026.
