Technical Manager - QA Automation

About the Role:
We are seeking a visionary and highly technical "Technical Manager of QA Automation" to own and evolve our entire quality engineering strategy across Web, API, and Mobile platforms. This is a critical leadership role that requires a blend of deep, hands-on architectural expertise, strategic thinking, and exceptional people leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Intelligent Quality & AI Integration: Drive the exploration and adoption of AI/ML techniques within the QA function, including intelligent test case generation, predictive defect analysis, self-healing automation, and leveraging AI for visual regression and exploratory testing.
2. Own the E2E Strategy: Design, implement, and govern a unified, highly-scalable test automation framework for comprehensive coverage across Web UIs, Backend APIs, and Native/Hybrid Mobile applications (iOS and Android).
3. Lead the evaluation, selection, and implementation of cutting-edge QA tools (commercial and open-source) based on technical merit and strategic fit, standardizing across the organization.
4. Drive the integration of performance, security, and accessibility testing into the automated CI/CD pipeline.
5. Champion a "quality-first" culture by embedding test automation practices early in the SDLC, integrating tests directly into the Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
6. Define, track, and report on key quality metrics (e.g., test coverage, defect leakage, automation ROI) to provide actionable insights to executive and engineering leadership.
7. Serve as the final technical escalation point, providing hands-on architectural guidance and conducting in-depth code reviews for the automation team.
8. Recruit, mentor, and develop a team of high-performing QA Engineers, SDETs, and Automation Architects, fostering technical excellence and a continuous learning mindset.
Required Technical Skills & Experience:
1. 12+ Years of progressive experience in Software Quality Assurance, with a minimum of 5 years in a Technical Manager or Principal Architect role focused on automation.
2. Demonstrated experience or strong understanding of how to leverage AI/ML techniques in the QA pipeline (e.g., using machine learning for test optimization, risk-based testing, or implementing tools with self-healing capabilities).
3. Deep Expertise in Test Automation Architecture with proven experience designing and building robust, scalable, and maintainable automation frameworks from scratch across multiple platforms (Web, API, Mobile).
4. Expert-level proficiency in designing and automating functional, performance, and contract testing for REST/SOAP APIs using tools like Postman, Rest Assured, or equivalent frameworks.
5. Experience with mobile automation (e.g., Appium, Espresso, XCUITest) and modern web UI automation tools (e.g., Selenium WebDriver, Playwright, Cypress).
6. Fluent in at least one object-oriented programming language (e.g., Java, Python, C\#, or JavaScript/TypeScript) to design and manage automation codebases.
7. Strong experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab, Azure DevOps) and understanding of cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP) as they relate to test environment provisioning and maintenance.
