About the Project:

This government-funded project focuses on developing and demonstrating drones and allied technologies for societal and industrial applications. The project leverages advanced technologies and critical infrastructure, fostering industry collaborations to solve challenges, drive innovation, and provide comprehensive drone training and awareness programs.

About the Role:

We are building the core Ground Control Station (GCS) for drones—a multiplatform system enabling mission planning, drone control, telemetry visualization, operator workflows, and fleet management. As a Software System Architect, you will define the system architecture, ensure reliability and performance, guide engineering practices, and collaborate with designers, backend engineers, embedded teams, and drone operators.

Qualification and Key Skills Required:

PhD with relevant experience OR
MTech / ME or equivalent degree with relevant experience OR
BTech / BE or equivalent degree with relevant experience.
Strong understanding of software system architecture or full-stack development, distributed systems, reliability engineering, and mission-critical software
Experience collaborating with embedded/hardware teams

Skills & Expertise:

Software system architecture for real-time, distributed applications
Frontend: React.js, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS
Backend: Node.js, FastAPI; database modeling with PostgreSQL, MongoDB
Real-time communication: WebSockets, MQTT, WebRTC
Cloud and DevOps: AWS/GCP, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines
Networking, asynchronous programming, telemetry, and mission workflows
Video streaming, edge processing, and IoT integration
Security: authentication, authorization, encryption, and secure communication
Experience with drone GCS software (Mission Planner, QGC), MAVLink, PX4, ROS
GIS/3D mapping tools, Mapbox/Leaflet, multi-drone/fleet control, edge AI pipelines

Job Profile:

Define the overall architecture for communication layers, data systems, frontend, and backend
Convert business requirements into scalable and reliable technical system designs
Integrate drones, aerospace, or IoT systems using C++ for performance-critical modules
Guide integration of telemetry, mission states, and sensor data pipelines
Identify technologies for real-time telemetry, mapping, visualization, and video pipelines
Optimize system performance for multi-drone operations and high-traffic scenarios
Oversee backend services and ensure efficient database modeling (PostgreSQL, MongoDB)
Develop secure REST and real-time APIs with access control and auditing
Guide frontend/dashboard development using React.js, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS
Coordinate with embedded teams for protocol alignment
Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and ensure secure, monitored, fault-tolerant deployments
Ability to complete any other work assigned as per requirement.
