Job Description –System Administrator/ L2 Engineering Tools Support Engineer Position:Windows system Administrator / L2 Tools Support Engineer (CAD/CAM/Embedded) Location: Bengaluru, India Experience: 3–6 years Mode: Onsite Department: Engineering IT Support / Production Support Role Overview The L2 Tools Support Engineer provides technical support for engineering design applications, CAD/CAM tools, embedded development tools, and SVN environments. This role works closely with production, R&D, and design teams to ensure seamless usage of engineering toolchains essential for manufacturing and product development. Key Responsibilities1. CAD/CAM Application Support·        Install, configure, and troubleshoot tools such as: o   CATIA o   ANSA o   HyperMesh o   Intergraph o   Autodesk products o   ANSYS / simulation tools ·        Resolve application crashes, rendering issues, license errors, and performance bottlenecks. 2. Embedded Hardware Toolchain Support·        Support embedded development tools (JTAG programmers, ECU/MCU tools, simulators). ·        Troubleshoot workstation-device communication issues. ·        Assist production teams in toolchain integration and version compatibility. 3. SVN & Version Control Support·        Provide L2 support for SVN repositories, access issues, conflicts, and workspace resets. ·        Coordinate with L3 for repository migrations or major structural changes. 4. Installation & Environment Configuration·        Configure system prerequisites, GPU drivers, runtimes, libraries, and dependencies. ·        Adjust environment variables (PATH, TOOL_PATH, JAVA_HOME, license variables). ·        Manage engineering workstation configurations for optimal performance. 5. Production Team Collaboration·        Work closely with production engineers to support tool upgrades, deployment, and testing. ·        Analyze tool failures impacting production processes and provide quick resolution. ·        Maintain high tool uptime within design and manufacturing teams. 6. Licensing Management·        Configure and troubleshoot license servers (FlexLM/FNP, DSLS, Autodesk Licensing, etc.). ·        Monitor usage, checkouts, and license availability. 7. Updates & Patch Management·        Perform tool upgrades, apply patches, and validate functionality. ·        Maintain version compatibility and documentation. 8. Documentation & Knowledge Base·        Document installation steps, environment settings, tool matrices, and troubleshooting guides. ·        Assist L1 engineers through SOPs and knowledge sharing. 9. User & Escalation Support·        Handle escalations from L1 for CAD/CAM, simulation, and embedded tool issues. ·        Coordinate with OEM tool vendors for deep-dive troubleshooting. Required Skills·        CAD/CAM Tools (CATIA, ANSA, HyperMesh, Autodesk, etc.) ·        Simulation/CAE tool experience ·        Embedded hardware development tools ·        SVN or other SCM systems ·        Windows/Linux engineering workstation troubleshooting ·        License server configuration (FlexLM, DSLS) ·        GPU/Graphics troubleshooting (NVIDIA/AMD)   Qualifications·        Diploma / BE / B.Tech in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, CS, or IT. ·        Certifications in CAD/CAM tools are an advantage. ·        Experience working with production or design engineering teams preferred.
