Structural Steel Detailing Project Manager - Bangalore / Hyderabad

Position Overview

The Structural Steel Detailing Project Manager is responsible for the successful execution of steel detailing projects from initiation through completion. This role ensures deliverables meet technical specifications, deadlines, and budgetary requirements by coordinating project teams and serving as the main point of contact for clients. The Project Manager collaborates closely with internal stakeholders, including modelers, checkers, and project support staff, to ensure all phases of the detailing process are delivered efficiently, accurately, and in alignment with client expectations.

This position requires strong leadership, project management skills, and a comprehensive understanding of structural steel detailing workflows. The Project Manager is expected to drive continuous process improvement, provide guidance and training to junior and intermediate team members, and maintain high standards of quality and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management

• Manage structural steel detailing projects in accordance with JITECH standards and policies.
• Review and process project documentation including Advance Bill of Materials (ABMs), Issued for Approval (IFAs), Returns from Approval (ROAs), Requests for Information (RFIs), and Engineering Change Notices (ECNs).
• Prepare and review project task estimates, budgets, and cost estimates.
• Monitor and report project progress, ensuring deliverables are completed on schedule and within budget.

Client Management

• Participate in and lead client kick-off meetings.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle.
• Report and document scope changes and communicate impacts to stakeholders.

CommunicationCoordination

• Facilitate collaboration across internal teams to achieve project goals.
• Coordinate with modelers, checkers, and other stakeholders to resolve project challenges.
• Communicate project status, progress, and challenges to clients and internal teams.
• Participate in and lead BIM coordination meetings.

Quality Control

• Ensure all project deliverables meet technical specifications, client requirements, and industry standards.
• Validate revisions, corrections, and final submissions prior to delivery.
• Check models and drawings prepared by other team members to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards.

Technical Execution

• Develop precise 3D models of structural steel as well as miscellaneous steel components as required for project execution and oversight.

Risk Management

• Proactively identify and report project risks, recommending mitigation strategies as appropriate.

Leadership and Team Development

• Provide guidance, mentorship, and training to junior and intermediate team members.
• Discuss and implement standards for project execution and quality.
• Oversee and mentor junior staff and teams, ensuring adherence to project timelines and budgets.
• Participate in performance reviews and talent development initiatives.

Process Optimization

• Monitor and enforce improvements to project workflows and delivery processes.
• Ensure effective use of project management tools, including schedules, scorecards, and task tracking systems.

FinancialResource Planning

• Oversee resource allocation to ensure projects are executed efficiently and profitably.
• Prepare and manage project budgets and cost estimates.

RiskQuality Governance

• Ensure compliance with JITECH's internal workflows, quality standards, and client requirements across all assigned projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Proven experience managing structural steel detailing projects.
• Experience with checking models and drawings prepared by other team members.
• Strong knowledge of steel detailing processes, BIM methodologies, and project management best practices.
• Working knowledge of Specifications for Structural Steel Buildings ANSI/AISC 360-22.
• Working knowledge of Structural Welding Code – Steel AWS D1.1:2020.
• Working knowledge of AWS welding practices and procedures, including shop and erection equipment and practices.
• Working knowledge of the International Building Code related to structural steel buildings.
• Proficiency in SDS2, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, and Microsoft Planner.
• Excellent English writing and communication abilities.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external clients.
• Ability to develop precise 3D models of structural steel and miscellaneous steel components.
