Role Summary

The Store Keeper will be responsible for the efficient receipt, storage, security, and issuance of construction materials, tools, and equipment at project sites. The role demands a disciplined professional who can coordinate with multiple contractors, suppliers, and internal project teams to ensure smooth material flow, accurate inventory control, and strict compliance with quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Material Receipt & Verification

  • Receive materials, tools, and equipment at site and verify them against purchase orders, delivery challans, and quality specifications.
  • Coordinate with QA/QC engineers for inspection and acceptance/rejection of materials.
  • Ensure accurate recording of Goods Receipt Notes (GRN) in both physical and digital systems.

2. Storage & Inventory Management

  • Organize and maintain systematic storage ensuring safety, accessibility, and prevention of damages/losses.
  • Implement FIFO/LIFO principles as per material requirements.
  • Maintain detailed stock registers, storage cards, and digital software entries.
  • Conduct periodic stock audits and reconciliations with accounts and procurement teams.

3. Material Issuance & Coordination

  • Issue materials to contractors/subcontractors strictly against approved requisitions or material issue slips.
  • Track material consumption and flag variances against BOQs or contractor requirements.
  • Coordinate with contractors for return of surplus or unused materials.

4. Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain complete records of receipts, issues, transfers, and stock balances in both manual and software-based systems.
  • Generate daily, weekly, and monthly stock reports for submission to Project Manager/Accounts/Procurement.
  • Ensure compliance with audit requirements and company policies.

5. Compliance & Process Control

  • Enforce safety and security procedures for material handling and storage (fire safety, theft prevention, hazardous storage).
  • Ensure proper labelling, stacking, and preservation of materials in accordance with IS standards and manufacturer’s guidelines.
  • Support value engineering efforts by tracking wastage, pilferage, and optimizing storage/issuance practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management, aligned with project or organizational needs.

Skills & Competencies Required

  • Ability to coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams (procurement, QA/QC, accounts, contractors).
  • High standards of integrity, accountability, and discipline.
  • Good oral and written communication skills, with strong reporting and documentation ability.
  • Hardworking, adaptable, result-driven, and medically fit for site responsibilities.
  • Basic knowledge of construction materials, consumables, tools, and equipment.
  • Hands-on experience with

    MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

    and ERP/Inventory software.
  • Excellent record-keeping, reporting, and organizational skills.
