Role Overview

We are inviting applications for the role of Statistician to be based in Mumbai. The role involves close engagement with government institutions to strengthen statistical systems, enhance data quality, and provide analytical support across multiple development domains. The selected candidate will contribute to improving statistical capacity and the use of data-driven insights in public policy design and monitoring.

Key Responsibilities

• Support design, collection, and analysis of large-scale datasets across multiple sectors.
• Strengthen data systems by aligning state and central statistical frameworks and metadata standards.
•  Conduct advanced statistical analyses, including time-series modeling, forecasting, and trend analysis.
• Prepare sectoral outlooks, reports, and analytical briefs based on survey and administrative data.
• Provide technical guidance on social, economic, and environmental statistics and their interlinkages.
• Ensure methodological rigor in statistical processes, data validation, and dissemination.
• Present complex data and findings in a clear and policy-relevant manner to decision-makers.

Qualifications & Experience

• Master’s degree in Statistics or Applied Statistics.

Experience

•  Minimum of 10 years of professional experience. Experience in a government statistical role or equivalent position preferred. Excellent communication skills and the ability to simplify complex data for diverse audiences.
• Technical expertise in one or more domains of development data such as

  social statistics

  or

  environment statistics

  . Knowledge of other domains such as

  economic statistics

  ,

  gender

  , and

  demography

  is an added advantage.
• Proven experience in data collection, analysis, and dissemination related to economic and social trends; expertise in

  time-series data management

  , strong understanding of

  metadata standards

  , and ability to prepare

  industry outlooks, forecasts, and statistical reports

• Proficiency in statistical software such as

  SPSS, SAS, Stata, or R

  , with hands-on experience in survey research methodologies.
