Role Overview:

The State Lead – Odisha will anchor Freadom Edu’s government and CSR-led literacy initiatives across the state. This role demands strong project management capabilities, an understanding of the education ecosystem, and experience working with government departments and corporate partners. The State Lead will oversee program delivery, build strategic relationships, ensure operational excellence, and drive impact across partner schools.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Government Project Leadership

  • Lead implementation of state-level literacy and school transformation programs in partnership with government departments and district education authorities.


  • Ensure smooth coordination with DEOs, BEOs, school principals, and teacher networks to drive program adoption and quality execution.


  • Represent Freadom Edu in government-led reviews, consultations, and policy discussions.


2. Stakeholder Engagement & Partnership Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with corporate CSR teams, government officials, school leadership, and educational organizations.


  • Represent Freadom Edu in discussions with CSR funding partners, aligning projects with their social impact goals.


  • Work closely with school management committees, parents, and community groups to ensure sustained engagement and long-term transformation.


3. Strategic Planning & Innovation

  • Identify new opportunities for CSR funding, project scale-up, and school transformation initiatives across Odisha.


  • Use research-backed strategies to strengthen program design and intervention models.


  • Contribute to thought leadership by generating insights, case studies, and innovative approaches to improving foundational literacy.


4. Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting

  • Develop and implement robust monitoring frameworks to track progress and outcomes across government and CSR-led projects.


  • Analyze program data, generate MIS reports, and present impact updates to internal teams and external stakeholders.


  • Ensure transparency, accountability, and compliance in all project-related documentation and fund utilization.


5. Operational & Financial Oversight

  • Manage state-level budgets, ensuring optimal allocation of resources for literacy improvement initiatives.


  • Oversee procurement, vendor selection, and vendor management for school infrastructure and program delivery.


  • Coordinate logistics, training schedules, baseline–endline assessments, and field operations across both urban and rural school networks.


Qualifications & Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in education, government programs, CSR, or development sector project leadership.


  • Strong understanding of primary education, foundational literacy, and government schooling systems.


  • Proven track record of managing multi-stakeholder projects at district or state levels.


  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and team management skills.


  • Ability to travel extensively within the state.
