Sr. Staff Engineer

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing engineering team, or operate as a hands-on technical lead when needed.
• Design, develop, and optimize scalable backend services using Python/Node.js.
• Work with Django, FastAPI, and task orchestration systems to deliver robust solutions.
• Own and evolve CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins or similar) to ensure fast, safe, and reliable deployments.
• Architect and manage cloud infrastructure using AWS and Terraform, adopting a DevOps-first mindset.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and compliance experts to build features that simplify tax compliance for users.
• Define and enforce engineering best practices, code quality standards, and operational excellence.
• Stay current with industry trends and advocate for continuous improvements in engineering practices.
• Contribute expertise in fintech, tax, or compliance-related systems.
• Utilize containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes) for deployment and scaling.
• Apply knowledge in security, observability, and compliance automation where relevant.
  

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 2+ years in a leadership or principal-level role.
• Strong expertise in Python/Node.js, including API development, performance optimization, and testing.
• Hands-on experience with Django, FastAPI, Celery, Kafka/RabbitMQ.
• Proven experience in event-driven architectures.
• Deep knowledge of AWS services (ECS, Lambda, S3, RDS, CloudWatch).
• Proficiency in Terraform for infrastructure as code.
• Strong background in CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins or similar).
• Ability to balance technical leadership with hands-on coding and problem-solving.
• Excellent communication skills with a collaborative, solution-driven mindset.
