Software Engineer

Role Overview

We are looking for a Resiliency Tester to ensure our applications, systems, and infrastructure are highly reliable, fault-tolerant, and capable of recovering quickly from disruptions. The role involves designing, executing, and automating tests that simulate various failure scenarios to verify resiliency, high availability, disaster recovery, and business continuity capabilities.

Mandatory Skills:

• Define resiliency test strategy and design test plans covering failure modes, disaster recovery, capacity, and performance under stress.
• Create and execute test scenarios that simulate system failures: network latency, node outages, database failure, service disruptions, etc.
• Work with DevOps / Infrastructure / Platform Engineering teams to set up test environments.
• Automate resiliency tests (using tools / scripts) to integrate into CI/CD pipelines.
• Monitor system behaviour during and after disruption: response, recovery time, data integrity.
• Identify vulnerabilities, single points of failure (SPOFs), capacity limits, and risk areas.
• Collaborate with SRE / Reliability / Engineering teams to design and implement mitigation strategies.
• Document test results, metrics (e.g. MTTR – Mean Time To Recovery; RPO/RTO – Recovery Point/Time Objectives), lessons learned, and provide recommendations.
• Participate in post-mortems after outages and ensure learnings are incorporated into test plans and architecture.
• Keep up-to-date on resiliency best practices, toolsets, and techniques.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Strong experience in testing, quality assurance, or reliability engineering, specifically in resiliency, chaos engineering, disaster recovery, or high availability.
• Hands-on experience with failure-injection tools (chaos engineering tools) or simulation of layer-network issues etc.
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their resiliency/disaster recovery features.
• Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash, PowerShell, etc.) and experience with automation frameworks.
• Good understanding of distributed systems, microservices architecture, and related failure modes.
• Experience with monitoring tools, alerting, logging, and tracing (e.g. Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, etc.).
• Ability to analyze metrics and logs to investigate root cause.
• Excellent communication skills, to coordinate across teams and produce clear documentation.
