Role Overview:

Responsible for planning, executing, and validating patching activities for IBM DB2 and Netezza environments, ensuring system stability, security compliance, and minimal downtime. The role involves automation, troubleshooting, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Automate DB2 patching tasks, including fix pack installations, DB2 CLI commands, and HADR checks.
• Install, configure, and maintain IBM DB2 databases on AIX and Windows platforms.
• Perform routine database administration tasks, including backup and recovery.
• Plan and execute DB2 Fix Packs, Security Updates, and address HIPER/APAR fixes.
• Coordinate with Application, Infrastructure, and Change Management teams for patch scheduling.
• Test patches in Sandbox and Non-Production environments, including rollback testing.
• Validate patches post-deployment in collaboration with application teams.
• Conduct vulnerability scans on DB2 servers and map findings to appropriate fix packs.
• Utilize DB2 logs, CLI tools, and instance health checks for monitoring and troubleshooting.
• Support audits, maintain documentation, and provide RCA for patch-related incidents.
• Implement and manage patch rollback procedures when required.
• Ensure timely remediation of overdue patches and compliance with security standards.

• Execute Netezza patching, firmware updates, and security patches, including ICPDS patch support.
• Perform remote shell execution, log parsing, and backup automation for patching activities.
• Apply critical firmware and OS patches based on CVEs and security requirements.
• Conduct pre- and post-patch health checks, including hardware diagnostics, log collection, and patch validations.
• Handle patch-related issues such as firmware mismatches and script failures.
• Validate patch success through system logs, query tests, and console checks.
• Utilize Netezza utilities (nzsql, nzstats) for monitoring and troubleshooting.
• Implement rollback strategies and procedures for failed patches.
• Use tools for OS-level vulnerability scanning and Netezza host issue resolution.
• Maintain documentation, support audits, and provide RCA for patch-related incidents.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Hands-on experience with DB2 administration and Netezza patching.
• Strong knowledge of patching procedures, rollback strategies, and vulnerability management.
• Familiarity with ICPDS patch support and OS-level security tools.
• Proficiency in scripting for automation (remote shell execution, log parsing).
• Knowledge of backup and recovery processes.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
