About the Hiring Company

We’re helping a fast-growing, fully remote marketplace startup (currently in stealth, post-seed stage) find their next great engineer.

The product is a two-sided marketplace connecting service providers and buyers globally,The founders have multiple successful exits and are build ing a world-class remote engineering culture from day one.

The Role

Contract Software Engineer (6–12 months, very high likelihood of conversion to full-time + equity for the right person).

You’ll be one of the first five engineers and will have massive ownership over the product.

What you’ll do

• Build new features end-to-end (heavy backend, but you’ll regularly ship frontend code too)
• Design and scale the core marketplace engine (matching, payments, trust & safety, search/ranking, etc.)
• Write clean, tested, production-grade code
• Ship fast and iterate based on real customer feedback
• Collaborate directly with the founders and the rest of the small engineering team

Current Tech Stack (flexible)

• Backend: Node.js + TypeScript (NestJS or Express), PostgreSQL
• Frontend: React + Next.js, TypeScript, Tailwind
• Infra: AWS, Vercel, Docker, GitHub Actions
• Tools: Prisma, tRPC, Stripe, Clerk/Auth, Resend, etc.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong full-stack skills with a particular emphasis on backend architecture and APIs
• Expert-level JavaScript/TypeScript
• Deep understanding of data structures, algorithms, and system design
• Experience with relational databases and writing performant SQL
• Proven ability to ship production code in a startup or high-growth environment
• Excellent written communication and self-discipline (100% remote role)
• Available 30–40 hours/week and comfortable overlapping 4–5 hours/day with CET (UTC+1)

Bonus points

• Previous 0→1 or early-stage startup experience
• Marketplace or payments experience
• Familiarity with Next.js App Router, tRPC, Prisma, or Stripe
• DevOps / AWS experience

Compensation & Details

• Competitive contract rate ($50–$100+/hr or equivalent fixed monthly – depending on experience and location)
• Fully remote
• High probability of full-time conversion with meaningful equity for exceptional performers
