Required Qualifications
About the ClientOur client is a large healthcare services provider delivering innovative technology and data-driven solutions that support the safe, efficient, and secure distribution of medicines and healthcare products. With operations across multiple markets, the organization is deeply committed to transforming healthcare through digital innovation and advanced system architecture that connects patients, healthcare professionals, and partners seamlessly.
Summary
We are looking for a visionary and highly experienced Software Architect to define, guide, and oversee the architectural roadmap for our engineering organization. This pivotal role requires a deep, hands-on understanding of microservices architecture, proficiency across the full stack, and expert-level knowledge of cloud-native development using Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Kubernetes (GKE). The ideal candidate will bridge technical strategy with business goals, ensuring systems are highly available, scalable, maintainable, and secure.
Responsibilities
- Define and Govern Architecture: Establish the architectural vision, standards, and blueprints for all software systems, focusing on the evolution and continuous improvement of the existing microservices architecture.
- Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Act as the highest-level technical authority, guiding engineering teams (including Team Leads) on complex design issues, best practices, and innovative solutions.
- System Design: Lead the design and documentation of major features, services, and integrations, ensuring non-functional requirements (scalability, performance, reliability, security) are met.
- Technology Evaluation: Research, evaluate, and recommend new technologies, frameworks (e.g., Go, Spring Boot, React), and tools to improve efficiency, performance, and development speed.
- Deployment & Operations: Collaborate closely with DevOps to optimize CI/CD pipelines (Argo CD, Azure DevOps) and deployment models on GKE, ensuring architectural changes are operationalized effectively.
- Workflow Integration: Provide expertise and oversight for the design and evolution of complex business process systems, particularly those using workflow engines like Camunda.
- Code Quality: Review critical code sections, design proposals, and technical documentation, setting the bar for engineering excellence across the department.
- Risk Mitigation: Identify and mitigate technical risks and architectural debt across the platform.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 3+ years in a dedicated Software Architect or Principal Engineer role.
- Proven expertise in designing and scaling complex microservices architectures.
- Hands-on experience with Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) and the Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Strong proficiency in multiple programming languages, particularly Go and/or Java (Spring Boot), with experience in modern frontend frameworks like React.
- Proficient with CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps) and GitOps practices (Argo CD).
- Demonstrated experience with workflow or BPM systems (Camunda preferred).
- Exceptional ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven record in build vs. buy decision-making and defining technical roadmaps.
Bonus Points
- Experience with multi-cloud environments (AWS or Azure).
- Deep knowledge of database technologies such as PostgreSQL and distributed data patterns.
- Familiarity with AI/ML technologies to enhance system capabilities or developer productivity.
- Published papers, patents, or significant open-source contributions.
