Job Description

Job Summary:

The Site Uptime Specialist is responsible for maximizing plant and equipment availability by implementing preventive, predictive, and reliability-centered maintenance strategies. The role focuses on reducing unplanned downtime, improving asset performance, analyzing failure trends, and coordinating cross-functional teams to ensure optimal operational continuity.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Equipment & Process Reliability:

  • Monitor and analyze plant performance data to identify potential equipment reliability issues.
  • Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance plans to minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and production teams to address recurring breakdowns and root causes.
  • Track Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) and Mean Time To Repair (MTTR) metrics for critical assets.
  • Lead reliability improvement initiatives using methodologies such as FMEA, RCA, and RCM.

2. Uptime Management:

  • Maintain and improve the sites uptime performance against key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Coordinate scheduled shutdowns and ensure timely completion with minimal production impact.
  • Implement monitoring tools, sensors, and data-driven techniques for proactive maintenance.
  • Ensure critical spares availability to support continuous operations.

3. Continuous Improvement:

  • Evaluate plant equipment and systems to recommend upgrades or redesigns for improved reliability.
  • Support the adoption of digital maintenance systems (e.g., CMMS, IoT, predictive analytics).
  • Promote a culture of reliability and operational excellence across teams.
  • Conduct downtime analysis and generate performance reports for management review.

4. Compliance & Safety:

  • Ensure all maintenance and uptime-related activities comply with safety and environmental standards.
  • Participate in risk assessments and develop mitigation plans for high-risk systems.
  • Support audits and inspections by regulatory and internal teams.

5. Training & Collaboration:

  • Train and guide operations and maintenance personnel on reliability best practices.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and EHS teams to align uptime goals with overall site objectives.
  • Technical Skills:

    • Knowledge of reliability engineering concepts (RCA, FMEA, RCM, TPM).
    • Experience with maintenance management systems (CMMS) and data analytics tools.
    • Familiarity with condition monitoring techniques (vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis, etc.).
    • Understanding of process equipment and automation systems.
  • Soft Skills:

    • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
    • Effective communication and cross-functional leadership.
    • Project management and planning skills.
    • Continuous improvement mindset and high attention to detail.
