Summary

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior SQL Server DBA with strong experience in Azure and AWS. This role involves managing, optimizing, and securing SQL Server workloads in cloud and hybrid environments, ensuring high availability, performance, and cost efficiency. The candidate should also bring development-oriented skills to support automation, DevOps, and modern data engineering practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer Azure SQL Database, Azure Managed Instance, AWS RDS, and EC2-hosted SQL Server.
• Design, build, and maintain ADF pipelines and SSIS packages for ETL/ELT workloads.
• Implement HA/DR solutions (Always on Availability Groups, geo-replication, backups, log shipping, clustering).
• Perform query tuning, indexing, partitioning, and statistics management for optimal performance.
• Automate routine DBA tasks, deployments, patching, and monitoring using T-SQL, PowerShell, Python, or cloud-native automation tools (Azure CLI, AWS CLI, SDKs).
• Develop CI/CD database deployment scripts using GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or Jenkins.
• Apply security best practices, encryption, RBAC, and ensure compliance with data governance standards.
• Troubleshoot production issues, analyze wait types, blocking, and participate in on-call rotations.
• Collaborate with developers to improve data access patterns, stored procedures, and ORM efficiency.
• Integrate SQL Server with DevOps pipelines for automated testing and deployments.
• Plan and execute migrations from on-prem to cloud (lift-and-shift, re-platforming, refactoring).
• Build monitoring dashboards using Azure Monitor, AWS CloudWatch, Datadog, or Grafana.
• Provide guidance on data architecture, schema design, and cloud-native best practices.

Requirements

• 6+ years SQL Server DBA experience, with 3+ years in Azure & AWS.
• Strong experience with T-SQL development (stored procedures, triggers, functions).
• Must have experience on support and performance activities.
• Proven expertise in ADF/SSIS, query optimization, and cloud cost optimization.
• Knowledge of Always On, clustering, replication, and cloud-native HA solutions.
• Skilled in PowerShell, Python, T-SQL, and automation frameworks.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation).

Nice to Have (Added Advantage):

• PostgreSQL / MongoDB: schema design, replication, backup/restore, security, monitoring, performance tuning.
• Familiarity with AWS Aurora, DMS (Database Migration Service), and Azure DMS.
• Exposure to Python for developing utilities, database wrappers, or automation scripts.
