About The Role
We are looking for an Application Database Administrator (DBA) to join our DevOps team and play a key role in ensuring the performance, scalability, and reliability of our product databases.You will work closely with product engineering teams to optimize data design, support release cycles, and enable continuous performance improvement across our applications.Eligibility5+ years of experience managing SQL Server databases in production environments.Strong expertise in query optimization, execution plan analysis, and indexing strategies to improve application performance.Experience working with DevOps teams and contributing to CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code (IaC), and automated deployments.Proven ability to collaborate with developers and architects to design efficient data models and ensure database alignment with product architecture.Proficiency in SQL Server Profiler, Extended Events, Dynamic Management Views (DMVs), and Performance Monitor for troubleshooting.Hands-on experience with high availability and disaster recovery (AlwaysOn, clustering, replication, log shipping).Scripting proficiency in T-SQL and PowerShell for automation and maintenance tasks.Working knowledge of cloud-hosted databases (Azure SQL / AWS RDS) and monitoring tools.Familiarity with Agile/Scrum practices and cross-functional collaboration.Strong problem-solving mindset, ownership orientation, and clear communication skills.Good to HaveExperience in application-level performance tuning, including ORM optimization (Entity Framework, Hibernate).Exposure to ETL/data integration (SSIS, Data Factory) or BI tools (Power BI).Awareness of microservices, API performance, or event-driven architectures.Familiarity with containerized environments (Docker/Kubernetes) and infrastructure automation (Terraform, ARM templates).Key ResponsibilitiesWork as part of the DevOps team, contributing to the reliability and performance of production database systems.Collaborate with product engineering teams to design scalable schemas, tune SQL queries, and optimize application–database interactions.Participate in application release cycles, ensuring smooth deployment of database changes through CI/CD pipelines.Proactively monitor and improve database performance, addressing slow queries, blocking, and I/O issues.Develop and implement automation scripts for backup, maintenance, and environment provisioning.Maintain robust backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with organizational standards.Support capacity planning, load testing, and performance benchmarking for product scalability.Provide insights on data usage patterns and contribute to product-level performance reviews.Document database standards, architecture, and optimization strategies for internal knowledge sharing.Continuously evaluate and recommend technologies to enhance data performance, observability, and reliability.
