Job Description

Role PurposeTo design, develop, and maintain business-critical applications using Smalltalk technologies, ensuring high performance, reliability, and scalability. The role involves translating complex business requirements into robust technical solutions, leading development initiatives, and mentoring team members.

Requirements

Total Experience:

  • 8+ years

Relevant Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in software development with expertise in Smalltalk programming.
  • Hands-on experience with Visual Works, Visual Age, Pharo, Squeak, and Gemstone database.
  • Strong experience in Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban).
  • Proficiency in Unix scripting, SQL (Oracle, MySQL), and automation tools.
  • Familiarity with IBM MQ Series, JSON, Putty, GitHub, JIRA, Confluence, Jenkins, and Postman.
Duties and Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, enhance, and maintain applications using Smalltalk (Visual Works, Visual Age, Pharo, Squeak).
  • Implement new features and customer requirements, ensuring high-quality deliverables.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize applications for performance and stability.
  • Collaborate with business analysts, QA, and other cross-functional teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.
  • Lead and mentor junior developers, providing technical guidance and code reviews.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies (Scrum, Kanban) and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Manage end-to-end software development lifecycle, including requirement analysis, design, development, testing, and post-production support.
  • Integrate systems using RESTful/SOAP Web Services and ensure seamless communication with external systems.
  • Prepare technical documentation, design specifications, and unit test plans.
  • Ensure code quality and compliance with best practices.
