Senior Packaging Lead – Mold Development & Packaging Innovations

Location: Kolkata (with overseas vendor coordination)

Experience Required: 10–12 years in Packaging Development, preferably in the FMCG / Personal

Care / Cosmetics sector

Role Overview:

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Packaging Lead to spearhead our end-to-end packaging

development initiatives at Dot & Key. The role combines deep technical expertise in mold

development with strategic leadership across packaging projects. This position will also manage a

junior team and drive innovation, cost efficiency, and sustainability across the packaging function.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Mold Development & Technical Expertise

• Lead the development and qualification of primary packaging molds (plastic, glass, or hybrid)

with overseas and domestic vendors.

• Collaborate with mold makers to ensure high-quality, cost-effective mold design and smooth

commissioning.

• Conduct Design of Experiments (DOE) and trials to optimize mold performance.

• Approve technical drawings, 3D designs, and conduct feasibility assessments for new

packaging concepts.

Packaging Development

• Drive concept-to-commercialization for primary and secondary packaging.

• Work with R&D, marketing, and procurement teams to ensure packaging meets functional,

aesthetic, and regulatory requirements.

• Ensure timely scale-up and launch of new products with robust packaging solutions.

• Champion sustainable packaging initiatives and ensure compliance with global standards.

Vendor & Overseas Coordination

• Build and maintain strong relationships with overseas packaging suppliers, mold

manufacturers, and contract packers.

• Conduct vendor audits, negotiate costs, and ensure adherence to timelines and quality.

• Manage the logistics and import/export coordination for molds and packaging components.

Team Leadership

• Lead and mentor a team of packaging developers and junior engineers.

• Provide technical guidance, coaching, and career development support.

• Oversee resource planning and workload distribution across projects.

5. Quality & Compliance

• Ensure packaging designs comply with safety, regulatory, and environmental requirements.

• Establish robust testing protocols and quality checkpoints during development and

production.

• Drive continuous improvement projects to reduce defects, improve efficiency, and lower

costs.

Key Skills & Competencies:

• Deep technical knowledge of primary packaging mold development (plastic injection, blow

molding, glass, etc.).

• Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

• Excellent vendor management, negotiation, and overseas coordination skills.

• Experience leading and developing junior team members.

• Understanding of packaging material science, testing protocols, and sustainability trends.

• Proficiency in CAD tools, packaging testing methods, and quality management systems.

Educational Background:

• B.Tech / M.Tech in Packaging Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Polymer Science, or

related fields.

• Additional certifications in Packaging / Mold Design preferred.
