Senior Occupational Therapist

Job Summary:

The Sr Occupational will lead and manage all aspects of occupational therapy service delivery in the organization. The role involves providing clinical oversight, developing individualized therapy plans, supervising junior staff, facilitating family and community engagement, and expanding the scope and visibility of the OT department. The position requires a dynamic professional who can bridge clinical excellence with community-based rehabilitation, training, and assistive technology services.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Service Delivery

• 
  Conduct functional assessments and develop individualized therapy goals for clients across age groups and conditions.
• 
  Implement evidence-based interventions to enhance clients' independence in daily living, sensory integration, motor coordination, cognition, and behavior.
• 
  Promote inclusive participation across home, school, work, and community environments.

Leadership & Supervision

• 
  Provide clinical supervision, mentorship, and skill development support to junior occupational therapists, interns, and assistant therapists.
• 
  Conduct regular team reviews, case discussions, and performance monitoring.
• 
  Ensure ethical, child-friendly, and effective practice standards.

Assistive Technology & Accessibility

• 
  Assess needs and prescribe assistive and adaptive devices, including splints, mobility aids, and self-care tools.
• 
  Collaborate with the Assistive and Adaptive Technology (AAT) unit for device fabrication and customization.
• 
  Guide families in home modification strategies to improve accessibility and functional independence.

Family & Community Engagement

• 
  Design and deliver structured home programs tailored to client and family contexts.
• 
  Organize and lead parent support groups to provide emotional support, education, and shared learning.
• 
  Conduct capacity building and sensitization sessions for:
• 
  - Parents and caregivers
• 
  - Community members
• 
  - Healthcare workers (PHC/CHC staff, ASHAs, Anganwadi workers)

Outreach & Program Development

• 
  Plan and implement community-based screening and intervention camps.
• 
  Liaise with field workers and local partners to ensure continuity of care and inclusion.
• 
  Contribute to program expansion strategies aligned with organizational goals.

IEC & Visibility

• 
  Develop culturally appropriate Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials (posters, videos, manuals).
• 
  Promote awareness of OT services through community events, digital platforms, and publications.
• 
  Represent the department in intersectoral meetings and advocacy events.

Monitoring, Reporting & Quality Assurance

• 
  Maintain accurate clinical documentation and monitor therapy outcomes.
• 
  Track performance indicators and prepare monthly and quarterly reports.
• 
  Conduct internal audits and participate in quality improvement initiatives.

Research & Proposal Development

• 
  Contribute to needs assessments, outcome studies, and service evaluations.
• 
  Draft or support proposals, project reports, and concept notes to strengthen or expand OT services.
• 
  Identify opportunities for innovation and collaboration with external partners.

• 
  Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy (BOT/MOT) from a recognized institution
• 
  Minimum 4–5 years of clinical experience, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory role; NGO or community-based experience preferred
• 
  Strong clinical reasoning, planning, and team leadership skills
• 
  Proficiency in assistive technology, documentation, and training delivery
• 
  Excellent communication, report writing, and proposal development abilities
• 
  Fluency in English and local language(s); culturally sensitive approach
