Job Description

The Operations group has been the focus point for bringing stabilization to the overall services, thereby help in service maturity. Our group owns the charter to build services, tools, systems, and processes that enhance OCI Operability through improved observability, testing, and automation to OCI (Oracle Cloud Infrastructure) services. We are working on exciting technologies to detect Large Scale Events (outages) in an automated fashion before they happen.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and support large-scale, secure applications and services on OCI using Java and modern application frameworks (such as Dropwizard and Spring Boot).
  • Build and maintain robust RESTful APIs, ensuring reliability, performance, and security.
  • Follow secure coding and CI/CD best practices, participating in peer reviews and Agile processes.
  • Work closely with architects, product managers, and cross-functional engineering teams to clarify requirements and deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Collaborate on implementation of cloud-native security, audit, and compliance mechanisms as part of your regular engineering work.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve production and pre and post production technical issues.
  • Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and drive improvements based on learnings.
  • Provide clear documentation and contribute to internal knowledge sharing.
  • Stay up to date with new technologies, with a particular focus on prompt engineering, machine learning, and generative AI applications relevant to cloud services.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3–7 years of software development experience with a strong focus on backend technologies.
  • Proven hands-on experience with at least one application framework such as Dropwizard or Spring Boot.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and developing RESTful services.
  • Knowledge of secure coding practices, authentication, and authorization mechanisms in cloud environments (preferably OCI, but experience with AWS/Azure/GCP is highly valued).
  • Experience with source control, CI/CD, and Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Excellent collaboration, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of prompt engineering and generative AI concepts.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with monitoring and logging solutions, preferably within a cloud-native or large-scale environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide technical documentation and participate in technical design discussions.
  • Exposure to cloud security and compliance frameworks is a plus.
  • Experience with scripting or automation and cloud resource orchestration.
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, particularly Terraform.
