Senior Mechanical Engineer

Key Responsibilities

Mechanical Design & CAD

Design precision mechanical components, including enclosures, sensor housings, and mounting systems for IoT dataloggers and sensor assemblies.Create detailed 3D CAD models and 2D drawings using SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or equivalent.

Enclosures & Molding

Design plastic and metal enclosures optimized for IP ratings, thermal performance, manufacturability, and durability.Work with mold-makers and suppliers to design for injection molding, overmolding, die-casting, and other relevant manufacturing processes.

Thermal & Environmental Engineering

Perform basic thermal analysis and develop passive or active thermal management strategies for electronics in constrained enclosures.Ensure designs meet environmental conditions including waterproofing, dust-proofing, temperature cycles, and mechanical shock/vibration.

Prototype & Testing

Build and test mechanical prototypes; validate fit, form, and function.Work closely with the hardware and firmware teams to ensure mechanical systems align with board layouts, antennas, sensors, and power systems.

Manufacturing & Production Support

Prepare BOMs, drawings, and manufacturing documents.Collaborate with vendors, contract manufacturers, and supply chain teams to bring designs from prototype to volume production.Develop assembly processes, jigs, and QA/QC procedures.

Cross-functional Collaboration

Support electrical and embedded teams with mechanical integration, connector placements, antenna performance, and shielding.Coordinate with product and project managers to align mechanical designs with product requirements and timelines.

Systems & Process Development

Help build and refine internal mechanical design workflows, version control systems, and prototyping pipelines.Assist in documentation and knowledge transfer for scalable growth.

Requirements

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.3+ years of experience in product development—preferably in consumer electronics, IoT, or embedded systems.Strong proficiency in CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360).Knowledge of materials (plastics, metals, elastomers) and manufacturing processes (injection molding, CNC, 3D printing, etc).Experience with thermal design and environmental sealing (IP-rated enclosures).Familiarity with DFM, DFA, and working with overseas manufacturers is a strong plus.Comfortable with basic testing tools, lab prototyping, and working with electronics teams.

Nice To Have

Experience with rugged or outdoor products.FEA (Finite Element Analysis) and CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) tools.Exposure to IoT systems, wireless antennas, or battery-powered devices.Hands-on fabrication skills—3D printing, machining, soldering, etc.Familiarity with ISO 9001, production quality systems, or regulatory standards.
