Senior Electrician

Position: Senior Electrician Department: Steel Melting Shop (SMS) – Electrical Reports To: HOD / Manager Location: Industrial Growth Centre, Industrial Road, Phase 2, Siltara, Sondra, Raipur, Chattisgarh. Experience Required: 5–10 years (preferably in steel or heavy industrial plant) Job Purpose: To ensure the efficient and safe operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical systems and equipment in the Steel Melting Shop (SMS), supporting continuous steel production and minimizing equipment downtime. Key Responsibilities & Experiences: Electrical Maintenance & Troubleshooting, Perform preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance of electrical equipment such as: Induction Furnace(I/F) EOT Cranes, AC & DC Drives, HTLT Motors, ZSS, PSS, Dual start motor, Starters, Capacitor, Motor valve. Transformers, Switchgear, MCCs, and VFDs. Diagnose faults in power supply systems, control panels, and PLC/DCS-related wiring. Replace or repair motors, circuit breakers, fuses, relays, contactors, sensors, and cables as required. Operation Support the operational team during furnace startup, shutdown, and changeover activities. Monitor electrical parameters and report abnormal conditions to the supervisor. Maintain proper lighting, grounding, and auxiliary systems in the SMS area. Safety & Compliance Adhere to plant safety protocols, lockout/tag out (LOTO) procedures, and electrical safety standards (e.g., IS/IEC codes). Use appropriate PPE and ensure all work is done in compliance with EHS guidelines. Report near-misses, incidents, or unsafe practices. Documentation & Reporting Maintain daily maintenance logs, breakdown reports, and checklists. Coordinate with shift engineers for maintenance planning and spares requirements. Participate in audits, inspections, and root cause analysis (RCA) processes. Team Coordination & Leadership Guide and supervise junior electricians and contract technicians. Provide on-the-job training and mentorship to ensure skill development and work quality. Skills & Competencies: Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, automation basics, and power electronics. Familiar with PLCs, HMIs, SCADA (basic level), and sensor technology. Good understanding of power distribution systems (HT/LT), VFDs, and furnace control systems. Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, SLDs, and wiring schematics. Hands-on experience with troubleshooting tools like millimeters, clamp meters, mugger, etc. Educational Qualifications: ITI / Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent. Additional certifications in Industrial Safety / Electrical Maintenance are an advantage.
