Electrician

**Job Title:** Electrician – Sponge Iron Unit **Department:** Electrical Maintenance **Job Purpose:** To ensure smooth and safe operation of all electrical systems, equipment, and machinery in the sponge iron unit by carrying out installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting activities. **Key Responsibilities:** * Perform routine inspection, preventive and breakdown maintenance of electrical equipment such as **motors, drives, pumps, conveyors, cranes, and kiln auxiliaries**. * Handle **HT/LT panels, switchgears, transformers, circuit breakers, starters, MCCs** and related systems. * Carry out electrical wiring, cabling, and termination works for new installations or modifications. * Troubleshoot and repair faults in electrical systems to minimize downtime. * Ensure adherence to **safety procedures** while working on live and high-voltage equipment. * Monitor and maintain logbooks for equipment performance, breakdowns, and maintenance activities. * Assist in the installation and maintenance of **automation instruments** (PLC, VFD, sensors) used in the sponge iron unit. * Support during **shutdown/overhaul maintenance** of kilns, cooler sections, and auxiliary systems. * Ensure compliance with statutory and company safety standards (PPE usage, LOTO procedures, etc.). * Coordinate with engineers and shift in-charges for reporting issues and ensuring timely rectification. **Qualifications & Skills:** * **ITI / Diploma in Electrical** (mandatory). * Minimum **3–5 years of experience** as an electrician in heavy industries (preferably steel / sponge iron / power plant). * Knowledge of **HT/LT electrical systems, transformers, MCC panels, VFDs, and motor maintenance**. * Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics. * Familiarity with industrial safety standards. * Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. * Willingness to work in shifts and during shutdowns. ### **Work Environment:** * Plant-based role in sponge iron unit. * Requires working in hot, dusty, and noisy conditions near kilns and process areas. * Shift duty, including night shifts and emergency call-outs.
