Senior Costing Engineer

Role Overview

The Costing / Estimation Engineer will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimations and quotations for precision components and sheet metal parts. The role involves analyzing technical drawings, evaluating material and process requirements, coordinating with suppliers, and supporting management with competitive costing data.

Key Responsibilities

• Study engineering drawings, BOMs, and technical specifications to prepare cost estimations.
• Estimate costs for precision-machined parts (CNC, VMC, turning, grinding, wirecut) and sheet metal components (cutting, bending, punching, welding, surface finishing, assembly).
• Calculate material consumption, cycle time, machining hours, labor, tooling, and overheads.
• Prepare quotation sheets and costing breakdowns for customer submissions.
• Coordinate with purchase and suppliers to obtain material rates and subcontracting charges.
• Maintain a database of material, machining, and sheet metal process costs for reference.
• Identify cost reduction opportunities through process optimization and material utilization.
• Support the Sales / Business Development team in preparing proposals.
• Ensure timely response to RFQs (Request for Quotation) from customers.
• Prepare MIS reports, costing presentations, and management review data.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of precision machining (CNC, VMC, turning, grinding, EDM/wirecut).
• Good understanding of sheet metal processes (laser cutting, punching, bending, forming, welding, surface treatment).
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings & GD&T.
• Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint for costing and reporting.
• Familiarity with ERP systems and costing software (preferred).
• Vendor coordination and negotiation skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹14,622.24 - ₹46,737.15 per month
