Job DescriptionPosition Title: Section In-charge – Mechanical (M7/M8) Department: Ports Location: AMNS Hazira Date: 25-05-2023 Approving Authority: Head – Ports Organizational RelationshipsReports to: Section Head – Technical Direct Reports: Section/Shift Engineer – Mechanical Key Peer Relationships: Department Section In-charge & other departmental personnel across the organization External agencies (Contractors, Service providers, Fire & Emergency Services, etc.) Role & ResponsibilitiesPrimary Position ObjectivesEnsure operational availability and reliability of Grab Ship Unloaders, Mobile Harbor Cranes, Stacker-cum-Reclaimers, and other material handling system equipment. Develop and implement maintenance plans and procedures. Drive equipment upgradation initiatives as per requirements. Implement SAP PM modules including CBM, PM, corrective maintenance, refurbishment, etc. Prepare and control budgets. Drive continuous system improvements. Position ImpactBudget management Spares procurement and planning Achievement of KPIs such as reliability, MTTR, and MTBF Process modification and improvement initiatives Key ResponsibilitiesEnsure compliance with health and safety standards; monitor and enforce AMNS safety processes. Develop strategies for maintenance, work instructions, and methods. Establish and implement maintenance strategies for equipment installation and commissioning. Design and execute preventive maintenance plans. Oversee routine maintenance implementation. Diagnose faults, analyze breakdowns, and supervise critical equipment repairs. Provide technical expertise to the mechanical maintenance team (shift engineers, supervisors, etc.). Collaborate on reliability improvement initiatives to extend equipment lifecycle. Control and optimize maintenance costs. Conduct equipment condition monitoring. Manage budgets for upgrades and replacements. Ensure timely scheduling and availability of materials and manpower. Support preventive maintenance programs. Maintain MIS and financial records. Limits of AuthorityApprove and implement maintenance procedures and SOPs. Ensure equipment availability and reliability. Execute SAP PM module activities. Enforce HSE standards. Qualifications & CompetenciesBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. 8–10 years of experience in maintenance of Grab Ship Unloaders, Mobile Harbor Cranes, Stacker-cum-Reclaimers, and raw material handling conveyor systems in ports. Hands-on experience with static and/or rotating equipment, including major overhauls. Strong skills in prioritizing maintenance tasks as per operational requirements. Proficiency in preparing technical reports. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Strong knowledge of safety requirements during major turnaround and maintenance activities.
