Job Description

Job Summary:

The Sales Development Manager (SDM) is responsible for driving business growth by developing and executing sales strategies, expanding distribution channels, and building strong relationships with key customers in the FMCG sector. This role focuses on market expansion, improving outlet reach, ensuring product availability, and achieving sales targets in assigned territories.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sales Strategy & Execution
  • Develop and implement regional sales development plans aligned with company objectives.
  • Identify new business opportunities and drive penetration in untapped markets.
  • Monitor sales performance and take corrective actions to ensure target achievement.
  • Distribution & Channel Management
  • Expand and strengthen distributor and retail networks.
  • Appoint and manage distributors, stockists, and wholesale partners.
  • Ensure timely product availability, visibility, and merchandising across all retail touchpoints.
  • Team Leadership
  • Lead and guide a team of Sales Officers / Territory Sales Executives.
  • Conduct regular training and performance reviews to ensure high team productivity.
  • Motivate and drive the team to achieve KPIs and secondary sales targets.
  • Market Intelligence
  • Monitor competitor activities and suggest counter-strategies.
  • Gather and analyze consumer insights and market trends to recommend improvements.
  • Conduct field visits and audits to ensure proper execution of trade programs.
  • Reporting & MIS
  • Prepare and submit weekly/monthly sales and performance reports.
  • Analyze sales data to identify trends and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field (MBA preferred).
  • 1–3 years of experience in FMCG sales and distribution.
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets and expanding market reach.
  • Strong leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office and CRM tools.
  • Willingness to travel extensively within assigned territory.

Preferred Qualities:

  • Self-motivated and target-driven.
  • Strong understanding of rural and urban FMCG markets.
  • Analytical thinker with strong business acumen.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹21,000.00 per month
