Job Description The primary responsibility of a construction safety officer is to ensure all the workers at the site are working in a safe environment and are following all correct safety procedures. The safety officers job description commonly entails collaborating with contractors in locating sources of potential hazards on project sites, including toxic materials, potential electrocution, and structural threats to human life, and finding ways to reduce or completely eliminate such hazardous threat from the sites. Responsibilities: Construction safety officers perform various functions to ensure a safe environment for workers at a project site. The major tasks, duties, and responsibilities are: Conduct daily environmental and safety audits Inspect and examine all health and safety related complaints, workplace accidents, outbreaks of diseases, the spill of hazardous toxins or poison Search for physical, biological, and chemical site / workplace hazards Investigate the construction site to ascertain equipment, production, and material processes do not pose a safety or health hazard to site manpower, employees, work guests, and the general public Create, evaluate, and implement health and safety programs and strategies Work closely with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Write daily safety and health reports or injury logs and ensure they are completed and submitted to relevant government agencies Train and advice employers and all relevant stakeholders on issues of workplace safety and environmental protection Creating different frameworks that will reduce accidents and improve workplace safety Verify the adequacy and safety of all work proposed tools and equipment Review and approve all subcontractors safety plans Train and run drills and exercise with workers on how to manage an emergency situation.

A key role acting as a change agent at all levels of the organization to drive continuous improvement. What will you do? You will ensure sustainability and drive for continuous improvement at the Quaker Houghton Kolkata head office & lab, our India customer sites where our field-technicians operate, these sites are mainly heavy industry manufacturing plants and act as advisor for our local toll manufacturing partner. Engage with office and lab teams based in our Kolkata location as well as with the field-based technicians located at our customer sites to promote and elevate our EHS standards. Work closely with the India EHS Manager, the Global EHS Fluidcare Director, the Kolkata Lab Manager, Warehouse Manager and all relevant local business leaders, external firms and contractors when necessary to ensure full engagement. Provide EHS knowledge, guidance, coaching and training to establish a positive progressive EHS culture. Act as a key resource for EHS training. Investigate Incidents, near misses, hazard identifications and ensure appropriate root causes are identified and corrective actions are implemented. Be responsible for the EHS management system within the groups in the roles scope. Perform or coordinate internal and external audits, tests & inspections to ensure EHS standards and regulations are met. Support and implement corporate EHS programs and systems. Work closely on sustainability projects and support related initiatives. Attend training, seminars, webinars where required to assist in maintaining an up-to-date professional knowledge in all areas of EHS legislation, standards, guidelines and codes of practice and ensure that any changes are reflected in the Companys systems. Any other tasks as required by management Travelling within India : 50%. What do we look for? Experience : At least 5 years experience in the health and safety and environmental discipline with a strong focus on occupational health and safety required within a heavy industry environment. Must be familiar with hazardous material risks management. At least 2 years working in an EHS role with multisite coverage that includes traveling. Education : Diploma in Industrial Safety (ADIS/PDIS/DIS) is a must. Language: English is a must.
