Role Overview

The Mechanical Maintenance Manager will oversee the maintenance and reliability of all mechanical equipment and systems across the plant. This role is critical to ensuring maximum uptime, reducing breakdowns, optimizing preventive and predictive maintenance, and supporting safe and efficient plant operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance schedules for mechanical equipment (rolling mills, furnaces, cranes, utilities, etc.).
  
• Lead and manage a team of maintenance engineers, supervisors, and technicians.
  
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical breakdowns to minimize downtime.
  
• Plan and execute annual shutdown maintenance.
  
• Monitor and analyze equipment performance, identify chronic issues, and implement root cause analysis (RCA).
  
• Maintain spare parts inventory and liaise with vendors for critical spares procurement.
  
• Ensure compliance with safety and statutory requirements.
  
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase equipment reliability and efficiency.
  
• Coordinate with production and electrical/automation teams for smooth operations.
  
• Manage maintenance budgets and cost optimization without compromising reliability.
  

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Diploma with strong experience may be considered).
  
• 10+ years of experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably in aluminium/steel/cement/paper or other heavy process industries.
  
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, gearboxes, bearings, pumps, compressors, and utilities.
  
• Hands-on experience in rolling mills or metal processing equipment is an advantage.
  
• Proven leadership and team management skills.
  
• Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
  
• Excellent problem-solving, planning, and communication skills.
