Job Summary: We are seeking an Assistant Safety Engineer to support the health and safety department on construction projects. In this role, you will assist in implementing and monitoring safety programs and policies, conducting site safety inspections, and ensuring compliance with all health and safety regulations. Compliance & Regulatory Assistance: Ensure that safety policies and procedures align with local health and safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, MSHA, or equivalent standards). Support the safety team in ensuring compliance with environmental and construction safety regulations during project execution. Assist in conducting safety audits to ensure compliance with internal safety programs and external regulatory requirements. Emergency Preparedness & Response: Assist in the development and implementation of emergency response plans, including evacuation procedures and first aid measures. Ensure emergency equipment, such as fire extinguishers, first aid kits, and emergency signage, is available and in good condition. Assist in organizing and conducting emergency drills (e.g., fire drills, evacuation drills). Promoting Safety Culture: Support the safety team in fostering a strong safety culture across all levels of the workforce. Encourage workers to report hazards, near misses, and unsafe behavior in a timely manner. Help promote a zero-accident mindset and maintain positive working relationships with the site team to ensure safety protocols are followed. Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field. OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification (or equivalent) is a plus. Experience: 1-2 years of experience in a construction or safety-related role (internships, co-op, or prior assistant safety experience is a plus). Familiarity with construction processes, safety standards, and health and safety regulations. Skills: Basic knowledge of construction safety practices, hazard identification, and risk assessment techniques.
