Job Purpose:

To supervise and coordinate rigging and lifting activities for maintenance, installation, and shutdown works in a Caustic Soda plant. The Rigging Foreman ensures safe, efficient, and compliant execution of all lifting operations involving static and rotating equipment, adhering to company and statutory safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and supervise all rigging and lifting operations within the plant area.
• Inspect lifting tackles, slings, chains, and other rigging tools before use and maintain proper records.
• Coordinate with maintenance and production teams for safe handling and movement of heavy equipment (e.g., pumps, heat exchangers, agitators, compressors).
• Ensure rigging works comply with safety procedures, lifting plans, and risk assessments.
• Conduct toolbox talks and safety briefings for rigging crews.
• Verify load calculations, lifting angles, and centre of gravity before lifting.
• Supervise crane and forklift operations during equipment installation or removal.
• Maintain daily activity reports and ensure completion within time and budget.
• Identify and report unsafe practices, damaged tools, or potential hazards immediately.
• Ensure compliance with plant HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) policies.

Qualification & Experience:

• Diploma / ITI in Mechanical or relevant trade.
• Minimum

  8–10 years

  of experience in rigging/lifting operations in a

  chemical or process industry

  (preferably Caustic Soda plant).
• Valid Rigging & Lifting certification from a recognized institute.
• Familiarity with heavy equipment rigging, EOT cranes, and hydraulic lifting systems.
• Sound knowledge of lifting gears, load charts, and safe rigging practices.

Skills & Competencies:

• Strong leadership and team coordination skills.
• Excellent understanding of HSE procedures and safe work practices.
• Ability to interpret rigging drawings and lifting plans.
• Good communication and reporting skills.
• Physical fitness and ability to work in process plant environments.

Work Conditions:

• Site-based role within the Caustic Soda plant.
• May require working in shifts, during shutdowns, or under outdoor/harsh process conditions.
