Job Title: Rigger – DRP Mechanical – SIU Unit Department: DRP Mechanical – SIU Unit(Steel Plant) Location: Industrial Growth Centre, Industrial Road, Phase II Siltara, Sondra, Chhattisgarh 492001 Reports To: Mechanical Supervisor / Site Engineer Job Purpose: To perform rigging and lifting activities related to the installation, maintenance, dismantling, and movement of mechanical equipment in the DRP (Direct Reduction Plant) of the SID (Steel & Iron Division) unit, ensuring safe and efficient execution in accordance with standard operating procedures and safety regulations. Key Responsibilities: Prepare and inspect lifting tools and equipment (slings, shackles, hoists, chain blocks, etc.) before use. Safely rig, move, lift, and position heavy mechanical components (e.g., rotary kilns, conveyors, blowers, gearboxes, etc.). Assist mechanical fitters and maintenance teams during shutdowns, overhauls, and installations. Interpret lifting plans and signal crane operators to ensure correct load positioning. Inspect and secure loads using appropriate rigging techniques. Coordinate with crane operators and other crew members during lifting operations. Perform visual checks and basic maintenance of rigging gear. Comply with safety procedures including lock-out/tag-out (LOTO), PPE use, and hazard communication. Support emergency maintenance tasks and contribute to quick equipment restoration. Report any unsafe conditions, equipment defects, or incidents immediately. Qualifications: High school diploma or ITI (Industrial Training Institute) certificate preferred. Rigger certification from a recognized authority (e.g., OSHA, NSDC, or local equivalent) is mandatory. Minimum 3–5 years of experience in mechanical rigging, preferably in a DRP or heavy industrial environment. Skills & Competencies: Sound knowledge of rigging equipment and lifting techniques. Ability to read rigging plans and follow instructions. Familiarity with plant safety regulations and hazard awareness. Physically fit to perform manual tasks and work in confined spaces or heights. Good communication and teamwork skills. Awareness of emergency procedures and incident reporting. Work Environment: Heavy industrial setting (Steel/Iron/DRP). Exposure to high temperatures, noise, and dust. Rotational or shift work may be required. Use of PPE is mandatory.
